Only the 2015+ VFC HK416 and M27s guns have MOSFETs (possibly HK417 as well). The M27s have an external FET while the HK416 is internal in the mechbox. The VFC FETs are just sort of meh IMO, basic trigger contact protection.

The rest of the VR-series guns only have the new red piston and tappet plates, nothing else improved over previous iterations.

Out of your initial list of guns, the only one I can really get behind is the PTS Masada, for reasons others already mentioned, but even then, you'd have to replace the gears, piston, motor, hop-up unit, spring guide and compression parts to make it decent. And that's basically most of the working parts of the gun. You would also want to wire up a basic FET for microswitch longevity if you're planning on using 11.1v on it, which everybody should be using these days.

I built up a VFC SCAR-L for Phil @ Siege, he seems to like his...

GHK hold up very well in the cold. Why not we co2 mags?

I've heard terrible things about G36 mag adapters. Keep away from them, or suffer the misfeed. From your list, the Masada is the best option. A friend of mine has one and oh man is it nice.

Dropping 6 bb's every time you remove the mag? Geez...

If PTS PMAGs were still available for G36, I would recommend them to anyone. Heck, I'd be preaching about dropping M4's for G36C's all over the place. But, unfortunately, they aren't available, so... Yeah. If you're going G36, you don't have many options I guess.

You say you don't like m4s, but does that mean you don't like ARs in general? You could always take an AR and build it into something that isn't anything like the very specific set of parts that is an m4. Make it your own.

There's more Ar parts out there than for any other model of gun, so if you like building like me, you can go nuts
