airsofts are excellent training tools. Its impact is benign compare to FX rounds or even paintball.

JSDF and Sig SAUER Academy use airsoft as well.

In case anyone was following this, DHS released the official solicitation today. They did end up switching to the KWA LM4 GBBR.

I am actually joking I am making an exaggerated point. I honestly don't see it as a positive thing but that is only my personal opinion.

Every young person should receive training in the use of the primary individual combat weapons of their nation.

Martial training should be mandatory for everyone as a part of the basic indoctrination to civil society.

We should not be leaving it to game designers to indoctrinate our children to violence.

In Israel it is an obligation:

18 years of age for compulsory (Jews, Druzes) and voluntary (Christians, Muslims, Circassians) military service; both sexes are obligated to military service; conscript service obligation - 36 months for enlisted men, 21 months for enlisted women, 48 months for officers; pilots commit to 9 years service; reserve obligation to age 41-51 (men), 24 (women) (2010)

That is definitely a good point, as with all things there are pros and cons, as long as there is balance. The article itself has some bias "..“I like shooting them,” Cathy said. “I like the sound they make. It gets me excited.”.." comes from it. I do think Military should have access to airsoft weapons for realistic training but I do worry about when this kind of stuff happens with children.

Edit: I do tend to shy away from words like "Indoctrinate".

I'm with Brian on that, they're much more likely to learn discipline and proper behavior from the state than they are from their parents these days. Having people trained is rarely a bad thing.

Just about every child in the world knows how to pick up a gun and pull the trigger thanks to TV/Video Games/Movies. Very few will have any idea of how to use one safely or not use one.

With the groups that the group is affiliated with and the intent of the group I'm putting my substantial bet down on the side that safe use of firearms is part and parcel of membership.

Kind of like Sex Ed, cancelling it from the curriculum won't stop kids from humping.
