It is a lot more pain than it's worth. Normally guys stay away from handguard batteries. Have you considered getting a crane stock? A collapsable stock that fits the battery?

No. No one in Canada manufactures any airsoft guns. NONE. The only accessories I'm aware of are AI's propane adaptor and tornado grenade. And I don't even know if they're made here or not?

Duracoat works well for me. I usually bake it for a couple hours after to help it adhere. It's a real firearm finish so it is fairly durable if applied right. Just follow the directions when you buy....
