ICS M4 Shooting About 20ft
I bought the gun in august and in october I went to a TWAT game where the gun started acting up out of no where. The gun would shoot a bb about 20 feet and then just drop to the ground. Their gun tech took a look at my gun and discovered that the upper gearbox was leaking giving the gun basically little to no compression. He lubed it up and stretched out the seals which got me going for the rest of the day. It was working just fine until about 3 weeks ago and the same thing started happening. So I bought a whole new cylinder set (Modify) as well as a tightbore barrel, hop-up bucking and a SCS. I installed all of the parts and it was shooting great when i tested it out the first time, however I tested the gun again and it is shooting the 10 - 20ft it was before.
Now I took the upper gearbox out of the gun and tested the compression and the thing does not have the slightest leak. So does anyone have any idea what could be doing this? |

This must be an air leak.
Or maybe the hop-up improperly installed? Check the air nozzle too What magazines are you using? |

Well it was an air leak with the stock parts but, i put the new parts in and believe me there is no leak. If i plug that nozzle up the piston doesn't move at all.
I am using ICS hi-cap when i test the gun but in games i use king arms mid-caps. I guess the hop-up could be installed wrong but i have triple checked it and it seems to be correct. Any suggestions on what to do to fix it. I have a game this thursday and would like the gun up and running for it. |

Test your rifle with a spring fed magazine, like a mid-cap or a low-cap. This could be a mag feeding issue... Although it could be something else, but it's best to test out the more obvious and easier fixes first...

Take your barrel and hopup assembly out along with your upper gearbox. Put the nozzle into the hopup as far as it can go and blow down the barrel. If you hear air, then it's a leak, if you don't, then the BBs are most liely getting stuck on something before they leave the barrel. These are the only things I can think of, good luck fixing your gun. |

Double check that the hop-up rubber is installed properly and not torn.
Also check for the little spring on top-front of the hop-up unit. On other AEGs, it is quite irrelevent. On ICS guns it is needed or else you have no air pressure at all. |

Ya the consensus seems to be, its a hopup issue. A buddy of mine had that same exact problem 2 days ago with his JG AUG, thankfully he had a backup gun. But when we got it back home we took it apart and realized it was just a torn hopup rubber, so part of the rubber was obstructing the bbs path. Simple fix.
Hope this helps. |

ok so tonight i took the gun apart again and double checked everything. The compression in the cylinder was mint so i decided to take apart the hop-up and put the stock rubber and stock nub back in.
Fortunately the gun is working great again. So i dont know why its not working with the prometheus rubber and the scs. I guess i am going to have to look more into that when i have some more time in the future. Thanks to everyone for their input and advice. |

Was the hop-up backed off enough? Cuz the scs needs to be tuned in more than your average hop-up, especially if the rubber has a bump on it. I recomend you test the scs again with your hop-up unit as it drastically helped me out.
