Thumbs up Life of a pistol - KJW 1911

Hey guys, here's a thread about the life of my newly acquired gas blow-back pistol; a full metal kj works M1911A1.

This thread is an attempt to document a KJW 1911 from the day I acquire it until the day I sell it or until it really dies.

I've acquired it new in box from a retailer here on ASC.

The purpose of this thread is:
  • Pictures of the gun from day one until the end
  • Long term testing and evaluation
  • Issues encountered during upgrading and modifications

Seems like I'm missing a small part of the slide near the safety

Tried installing some custom grips but it seems I would need to sand them a bit first.

It fires quite loud and strong; just the way I love it.

Well here's the beginning of it. I intend to bring this gun close to a MEU; we'll see how it goes along the way.

Hope you guys enjoy this thread and feedback, comments and questions are welcomed

Thanks, I got inspired from the RC world; these guys always do that and I thought it would be cool to bring it over to airsoft.

...and hot avatar as usual, mate.

Awesome grips. What are you planning internally? I thought KJW had the least amount of after market parts.

Will you be replacing that outer barrel that juts out from the slide? (I never liked that look, even for ported race-guns) Personally, I would go for a stainless-look out barrel/chamber, even with an MEU, like the Kimber Warrior/Desert Warrior, which is apparently going to become (or is) the Marine's issue pistol for MEU-SOC.

T7, you always do

Thanks for the grips; they come from nierbee (spelling?) and they have the logo of our team. I used to have them on my WA MEU before I sold it.

As for the internal stuff; all the retailers that carry this gun claim it's TM compatible so I guess you could just grab TM upgrade parts. I do not intend to upgrade it internally; I will go on a replace what breaks basis.

As for externally I'm first going for that and then I'll move on to other parts to MEUize it. This slide comes with sights and outer barrel. The barrel is black but I could always strip it and polish it stainless. I also love a stainless barrel in a black slide however I wanted to go more for a late MEU before they started buying Kimber ICQB. I do not intend to make it a total replica anyways so we'll see.
