BDU Camo
This may sound quite dumb (and it probably is) but what are the most common BDU color/camo out there ?
from what I've read around here, it seems to be Marpat and Cadpat. Is OD still used/usefull for a BDU ? Im asking this becose im looking to get a BDU, but I really dont know what type i should get since... im not really sure what game type/terrain im gonna play at. Is there a good all around BDU patern, because i really don't want to play with a shirt + jeans.

The cheapest you can find around is woodland. I'd say it mixes well with most color (OD, black, tan) and fields in Quebec are mostly wooded / sand pits / paintball fields.
Since you're in Sherbrooke, the First Pathfinder's area, a CADPAT kit isnt a bad choice. Anyway, CADPAT isnt a bad choice on its own. The cheapest way to get a versatile kit would be for you to buy surplus BDUs, like maybe or a US woodland a US 3-color desert. You'll get each piece (jacket, trousers) for about a mere 20$. But, its up to you after all. Then you'll want a matching vest, pouches, boots, etc.

There are several different variations when it comes to BDU's.
Depending on your area and the time of year of course, some will be effective and some won't be as useful. As for a 'universal' camo, ACUPAT and Multicam are marketed as such but there is no way for a camo to be 100% universal. Observe the vegetation around your area check out camo patterns online or hit up a local surplus and check some of the BDU's they have in stock and go from there. Alternatively, if you think you won't be playing airsoft in your area. Anything green should do the trick (if you'll be playing in forested areas). CADPAT, MARPAT even the good old three color woodland the US used. When it comes to OD, ask yourself this, why do you think it isn't issued anymore? |

OD Is actually quite useful if you use it properly. There was an article either on this site or some other one where they compared and contrasted different camo patterns and what they're good for. I believe OD was rated as good for afternoon/night ops and early crack of dawn too (IIRC it was more effective than CADPAT in these situations however I'm not so sure about that).
CADPAT is good if you've got a lot of wooded and green areas, like the BC coast. MARPAT on the other hand is good if you're in a prairie, fallen/dead wood (standing wood but without a lot of moss on the trunk is included too), or generally brown dominated landscape.

Missing advice:
Look through the Quebec's Games and Events section. Check what tpe of BDUs game organisers are looking for. Then gauge what would be the closest to your liking. That would likly help to narrow the search for "popular" camos. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/forumdisplay.php?f=70 And watch out, my daltonian uncle told me some camo pattern look like glowing pink to him! Beware of daltonian airsofters!
