WA SigGSR 1911 Alu/Steel

Well, I got bit by the bug again and
now have an almost completed SCW2
GSR project. Started with a Prime
aluminum kit and lots up steel parts.
Just a few more steel controls to buy
and the piece will be done. Probably
going to design my grips as well.

Upgrade Components (so far):
Prime Aluminum Slide/Frame kit
Sheriff Steel polished Beavertail
Sheriff Steel polished Ambi-Safety
SD Steel Barrel Bushing
SD Steel Chamber
SD Steel Outer Barrel
ProG4 Steel Slide Stop
ProG4 Steel Trigger+Loop
ProG4 Steel Hammer Kit+Sear
ProG4 Steel Frame Parts
ProG4 Steel SCW BBU
ProG4 Steel Hop Chamber/Inner Holder
ProG4 Brass Float Valve
ProG4 Loading Nozzle
CP Inner Barrel Lock
Guarder Steel Barrel Ball
AS 150% Recoil Spring
Real GSR Revolution Wood Grips

WA stock parts to be replaced:
• Main Spring Housing (—> steel)
• Mag Release (—> steel)

Just letting the paint dry on
the stock black controls. Now
I may keep that old GSR metal
slide I had for sale for almost
a year! Probably strip one to
silver for kicks.

Same here, I was all over the
Kimber's until everyone had one.
The GSR has all the modern 1911
touches that Kimber has but with
a different style. Full pics up on
Sunday.

Very curious on how the gun will handle with all the Prog4 steel internals. Can't wait to find out. Let me know if they are worth the money or not so I can put them on my WA infinities myself! :>

I was wondering what the advantage of the ProG4 Steel Hop Chamber is over the stock one. Its 1 piece.. is it for removing hop up for IPSC style shooting?

Hey bud, I forgot to mention— this gun
has already been firing fine for a while.
I just took her apart to clean and snap
the pics for this showing. Blow back is
crisp, trigger pull is nice and smooth.
SCW's don't suffer from minor weight
gain on the slide, like a TM would, since
the WA design kicks a fair bit harder
and was designed to move heavyweight
abs slides.

Well the advantage of the steel hop
chamber isn't much, other than being a
one piece design, it eliminates a couple
stock parts, screws loosening and
splitting the unit, maybe losing seal...
The unit is a nice solid fit with the slide
stop keeping the barrel rigid. Worth
the money for the minor gains but not
a must have.

Most SCW's and a fair amount of Magna's
are fixed hop. This unit was for SCW, but
requires a Magna inner barrel lol. It's a
fixed hop design. I've found fixed ones
on WA's shoot best with .25/.28's for a
straighter, farther shot— like a TM shotty.
You don't need hop indoors, the targets
shot for CAPS aren't far enough to make
a difference.

New BIG Pics:

The Prime GSR metal kit sold for $350 US
at WGC more than a few years ago.

Wood grips are simple double diamond
style and can be found on eBay or real
steel forums fs/ft. These just happen to
be from a real GSR. Good wood grips
will run you $40–80 US.

is that kit only for WA guns or can it fit on other 1911 style handguns?

Update

New steel beavertail sits nice and
tight (low profile), a la Novak Next,
but still functions perfectly.

Polished my spare aluminum slide,
installed an SD steel front sight and
SD steel barrel bushing.

Stripped and painstakingly polished
the Sheriff ambi-safety, installed.
