Tactical Fleeces/ Shells

DOODS

Any suggestions/ recommendations for a Tactical Fleece or soft shell? I dont have any prefrences, but I'm not impressed by the 5.11 series. Tried one on and hated it, especially for 150. not asking for a spoonfeed, but it's hard to dig up some sites as most sites I've found are lying pretty low.

I can order restricted issue (only available for military/ LEO) if the price is fair.

Why not go with the ECWS system?

Get a spear fleece.

Funny as it sounds, MEC had a great jacket two years ago, Urban or something like that. Got one in a dark CB and added some velcro to it. Works better then a bunch of supposably "tactical" soft shells. Plus it has fleece bonded to the inside, so its nice when its cold, but still cool enough when it gets warmer.

I haven't tried out TAD gear or Beyond, but I've got a lot of Pantagonia and Arc'teryx stuff and its very high quality stuff.

OTTE Gear

I'm a a LEAF whore but companies like TAD, OTTE, and Beyond Tactical offer softshell jackets that surpass the Arc'teryx Bravo jacket in terms of functionality and pockets.

All Sick. I thought TAD gear was unobtainable but thats way cheaper than I remembered, let alone available for purchase. I thought that was straight up Dope ass Delta stuff.

Patagonia is not bad, Arc'teryx is good but I dont like paying for jackets with left nuts. I now North Face makes some Special Issue stuff, but I cant find a contact for there Police / Military supply. But I do need velcros so I can through on Shoulder Flashes and ranks in a jiffy. If I had to be picky, I could REALLY use some side sippers to allow Pistol access. Like on the 5.11 tactical fleece.

Thanks for the help so far guys

I have the TAD Predator Hardshell, its simply amazing. I am sure they're softshell will be too. Although the Beyond very ideal to me considering it is custom fit and I'm an odd size person as off the rack stuff rarely fits me.

I caved and got the Predator Hardshell. Went with the version 3.0 though in OD. At 350 for a shell like that I couldnt resist. Just need to pick some patches and some ranger eyes, and bobs your uncle.

That Ranger Hoody is pretty sick too, I cant believe I didnt know about this before.

what about something super super inexpensive? I just visited the local surplus store and got a Canadian Forces issue fleece in OD that has reinforced elbows, shoulder epaulets and arm pit zips for 12 bucks...was under 15 with the taxes.
Just a thought if you wanna do the ubercheap and still look the part. I can PM you a pic if you want.

I second that. The current "Dogma, Compulsion, Kinetic, and Protagonist" jackets are very nice. I have the Protagonist myself. And most come in OD.
