Uh, Its really up to you on that, there is no 'better' in airsoft. It all just ends up going down to what you prefer over the other.
If you wanna mod the crap out of your gun with flashlights and the such, go with the m4. If you like the badass look, go with an AK47 or whatever. Of course people can go down to the differences between the v2 and v3 gearboxes...
Its really just up to you

You need to do more research on what you want and what is decent. Sounds like you haven't tried at all. We're not going to tell you what to buy.

Once you've made a decision between 2-3 guns or whatever, THEN we might help you.

Thats super nice man!!! The guy was asking your opinion on what guns are better or if people had any advice as a newbie what he should look for. Not a very nice way to welcome someone into the airsoft world dude. Your momma ever tell you "if you ain't got something nice to say don't say anything at all"?

If you don't make any effort, we're not going to spoon feed you.

Why should we make an effort for you when you make none yourself?

Because ASC gives new players access to FAQs (Airsoft Canada), search function and a multitude of threads stating the same thing since the Newbie Tank has been set-up means that if you search a little bit more, yes, you'll surely find the info.

Because the question is quite generic, I might also recommend to search a little more and settle on some guns, then ask question about, lets say, ergomonics, ironsights, mags, etc.

BTW, i'd prefer the ak, as I'm not an AR fan and I prefer Version 3 Mechboxes

So I will try to answer your questions. Both Ak's and M4's are poular. The AK has a version 3 mechbox which is commonly thought to be better than the version 2 which is in the M4. The M4 is a more popular gun however. Everyone seems to have one, which can be a blessing and a curse. It is a curse well because your M4 will not be very original. But thats not totally bad as because its so common its easy to find tons of parts new and used for it. Mags are easy to come by and if you run out in a game your team mates will be able to "loan" you a mag. Its really a personal choice seeing as performance wise they will act the same depending on what upgrades you put into them.

By the way I am an M4 fan myself.

Hmm.. ok.. which Ak47? A TM AK, G&G AK, JG AK, RS AK? CA AK? How about the M4A1? Which one of the dozen manufacuters that make them? STAR, TM, CA, G&G, G&P, JG, DBoys, etc. etc. The question has completely different answers if he asked about a G&G AK and CA M4, or a CA AK and a G&G M4.

Christ that question was like asking "what's better, a sedan or a minivan?"

Like Thatotherguy said, all we could really do with that question is give him advantages of the V2 or V3 mechbox. With a question that vague the rest really does come down to preference.

Without getting into the details of brands, mechboxes, etc, I'd say which to get depends on that you want to do with it. If you want to just go out and shoot people through your iron sights, then an AK is probably your best choice. It's simple and effective and parts from the simplest components to metal bodies and wood kits are generally plentiful.

If you want to add optics, lights, lasers, etc, then a railed M4 would be the best bet. Armalites are the most customizable airsoft guns with parts, brands, options, etc that are limitless.

In terms of performance, neither is better. Comparable quality guns with comparable internals, barrels, velocities, etc will perform the same, give you similar range and accuracy. There is no better gun. There's just a better gun for YOU.

I think he means by putting accessories on it, because there aren't many, and they usually don't have rails. But i could be wrong.

I have a question for the OP.

What gun do YOU like?

Hint: buy that gun. Or both.

My eyes. I think I'm blind now. That should NEVER be done to a AK.
