PEQ Battery Case
So here is the situation. My Classic Army FN SA 58 OSW comes with a PEQ battery case. Classic Army suggests a 8.4 battery. I have read a review where the user had put in a 9.6 2000 mah battery. Which would be the best battery choice for my application??
Which Battery would fit in the PEQ type battery box?? Juctim Omnimodo Michael Last edited by Mr.Shiney; March 31st, 2009 at 15:25.. |

8.4 V and 9.6 V is not much different. It just increase ROF if you use 9.6 V but still chance to break is more than 8.4 V. I never seen a gun break with 9.6 V battery yet.

If the mechbox is shimmed nicely, you'll probably be fine on a 9.6v small battery.
The 9.6v 2000mah might be the little butterfly pack....I'm not sure what size the cell is...they're longer than 2/3A but not AA (but sort of). Airsoftparts.ca sells the Intellect ones. They'll fit in a lot of peq boxes that are otherwise too thin for regular 2/3A sized mini packs. Take careful measurements of the inside...a buddy tried to jam a "regular" mini into his peq and we thought he was going to break it trying to get the pack out again. |

If you beef up the box a little, airsoftparts.ca sells a small lipo battery for peq boxes.

"beefing up" means that you should put some modified parts into the gearbox so that it can take higher voltage battery which means faster speed.
to beef it up mostly ull need, - hightorque gears/reinforced gears -good shimming -ball bearing spring guide or a metal spring guide if u dont already have one. -metal bushings if u dont already have them |

Otherwise, you might want to stick with 7.4 V 20 C Lipo battery. It's quite enough for stock. I used it on my VFC SCAR-L stock, and never had a problem at all even my plastic bushing is not even wore out yet. 7.4 V 20C Lipo is about 8.4 V Nimh battery but you should be able to get more ROF than regular 8.4 V because of their C rate.
