master List

So I forgeot to get a battery for my new M4. As I was looking to get the new MOE foregrip from ebaybanned it was suggested to me that a 9.6, 1500 mA nunchuck would fit well. This got me thinking. Is there some kind of " master list" that i could find that would give me info on how much play time I can get out of specific battery types?

No, there is no such list because there are so many variables and factors that will affect play time.

Here's a general master list:

Any battery will get you between 5 minutes an 3 months of play time.

LOL...

With typical outdoor field limits, if your rifle is setup nicely, a "not new" regular mini (i.e. 8.4v 1400mAh Intellect 2/3A cell size) will go for about half a day with skirmishing shooting. A spanking new one in a 300fps gun will go 3/4 or maybe the whole day if you don't shoot much.

For typical outdoors, a typical large battery (i.e. 8.4v 3600mAh SubC cell size) will typically run a whole day...then maybe another game the next weeked...or else just long enough for you to get geared up, loaded up and then find out in the first 2 mags that you're battery is dead.

Big batteries = all day fun
Small batteries = change your battery at lunch and carry an emergency field spare

also depends on you, your playing style. With an upgraded m-14 I can run several days on one battery. However if I were hosing out rounds, i'm sure that would change.

Yea, there really is no guideline. I run a 1500mah mini, and I've only run out of juice once, and that was in a day of hard skirmishing.

Temperature is also a huge factor, as well as cell chemistry. Ni-MH packs have a much higher self-discharge rate than Ni-Cad packs, but that is balanced by the fact that you can charge Ni-MH packs at any time without discharging them.

My 8.4V 1700mAh battery likes to start to die just at the end of a good skirm.

So it would be a good idea to buy a second 9.6 1500mah mini for my M4. Thanks, will do.
