Question about Huang's 553
I'm currently out looking for an EOTech clone as well as an EOTech 4X FTS Magnifier.
I've heard different things about Huang's 553 - but I also noted that the newest information about his 553 are at least 4 months old. So can someone tell me 1) is the reticule on his 553 clear and crisp? 2) Ghosting issues? 3) does the 553 line up well with an EOTech 4X? And lastly, if possible, is the tan version same as the flat black version made by the same guys? TIA |

1) yes. Except its kinda tough to see outdoors in bright light, its Do-able, but you really have to focus.
2) no, not for me anyways. 3) Lines up perfect. |

I have one of Huang's 552 replicas
1) Very crisp and clear reticule, but is easily washed out by bright light sources or sunlight. 2) On the brightest setting, I can see a faint ghost. It's more noticeable on green than red. At medium settings (where you'll likely use the sight), there's no ghosting. 3) No experience there, but that info would be specific to the 553. I hear it lines up perfectly.

my heung 553 is good for all three of your questions, however it does not stay on target if you move your head around. my $40 RDS out preforms it.
the thing is only good for gun pr0n. sucks for field use.

I bought that Eotech mostly for wall hanging with my gun and show off to my friend but on the field, my wall mart RDS does the job. KND

Besides, if you shoot a rifle with the universal fighting position your eyes should line up fairly straight with the scope. |

Agreed. The parallax makes them a little less 'flexible' than an actual holosight, but with a good shooting position, that's not really much of an issue. I also have a HurricanE 552. Has the same issue, only less than the Huang model. I also have a Bushnell holosight, and it's always dead on. Luckily, the former owner of the Bushnell built a custom hood for it, so now it looks just like an EOTech 522.

Yea and I saw it and it looks pretty good plus you have the real deal reticule for less pesos.
My issues whit the 553 replica's...Well cracked window, windage/elevation do not keep zero ( that is bad...), quick release not securing the sight well in place, little ghosting, 10 minutes auto-shut off... And I am probably forgetting some... Looks good but that is all. Save 200$ and go for a real deal used or the Bushnell. I know a place you can buy Eotechs 511, 512 for 400$ CND in country.

Mind showing me a picture how it's built and secured onto the sight? Dead keen on getting a hood, I have been getting a lot of shit from my mates for getting something that looks like a bastardised 552 :banghead:

Cracked window? That's not good Perhaps applying LCD lens protector (increasesing the overall thickness of the lens, possibly absorbing/transferring some of the shock may work? But this is a bit of a worry. Quick-release problem should be easily fixed: Get a hot glue adhesive, warm it up, apply in onoto the "fixed" side of the QR base, and immediately press it onto your 1913 rail. It will not fix the shaky base issue 100%, but it will dramatically decrease it. If that doesn't rock your socks, get some superglue, apply silicon oil onto the gun's rail and fine tune your base to have the perfect fit. |

The ghosting on my Huang 552 is very, very faint at the highest settings. On green, it's more visible than red. At the mid settings I use mine on, there's no visible ghosting.
If anyone cares, I wrote a comparative review of the Huang 552 and a HurricanE 552 a while back. From the couple of Huang 553s I've seen, they seem pretty similar in terms of optics so... Airsoft Canada
