MP5K Lower Receiver
So I had a brilliant idea to make a custom MP5K PDW, metal kit (eventually) and all, and I just wanted confirmation that I can import one of the CA MP5K LOWER receivers from airsoftglobal, right? It's the uppers that are restricted for the MP5 series? Thanks in advance. Also, anyone know any retailers that sell MP7 sights?

MP5 lower recievers are made of plastic. There's nothing wrong with the one on your gun stock.

I know, but I want one of the "old style" MP5K A3 lowers because its got grips, is textured and isn't all shiny like my worn Marui plastic.
Also, thanks to QLong, that's exactly what I was looking for to top my MP5K!

Now I'm looking at them...

I agree, why do you want to get a new lower? Are you wanting to switch lower styles?
On top of that, do not confuse Armalite regulations with MP5 regulations; they are a completely different class. Armalites (AR's), for the most part, are restricted, whereas the MP5 is prohibited. Hence, the import rules are different concerning MP5's. I am sure you could, but luck of the draw, get it across, but... we all know how that goes over. Hope that helps some. Lowers sometimes pop up in the Used section, however a MP5K lower might be hard to find, just keep your eyes open. [edit]darn it, too late

Well you do make a good point, but a AR lower is the restricted part of the firearm, and it not 'essential,' I use that term very loosely, but I am not exactly sure of the import rules on the MP5. I am just trying to give give you the context of your question. You are asking to import a replica of a prohibited weapon, so I wouldn't be surprised if you needed an importer to bring one in. Ask Mr Jon on here, I think he has one, and he might be able to direct you in the proper direction and answer your questions.

Excellent, thanks for your help, guys. On a related note does anyone here have any experience with the Nitro/Laylax Rail Sleeve Kurz for MP5Ks? Or does anyone know of anyone with experience? Thanks.

Werll I put in a bunch of orders for MP5K parts, the first to come was the Laylax rail, and it's a pretty badass piece of work. The only issue is that it might not be able to hold silencers, but I need to unscrew the hex under the muzzle and take it out to make sure. I'll be posting pics as I go, but in the end, my K-Custom will have UMP-style stock, Laylax rail, CA furniture (A3-style), CQB sights, and laser mod, if possible.
One thing though, I will be changing barrels from the longer 140mm to the 110, and as afar as I've googled, there aren't any guides on this. I'm guessing I just disassemble as normal, then pull out the hop unit & barrel, or is there some sort of special crap that needs doing like the G36?

Yeah, I decided that at $35USD it's worth a shot, and success seems like a pretty good possibility. I just ordered it separately from my other orders for simplicity's sake. I'll let you guys know how it turns out, etc.

On a related note to all this, what's the shortest 20mm rail I can get?
