Airsoft GI + UPS = bad shipping?
In the last year or so i have placed several orders for airsoft parts/accessories, two of which have come from the US. Both of these orders were delivered by UPS and BOTH have had ridiculous "brokerage" fees addded onto the already high shipping cost. The latest one was from Airsoft GI. The order was originally $150+35 shipping. When the package arrived at the boarder it was stopped and after several phone calls to Airsoft GI and UPS i was informed that an extra $42 would need to be paid until the shipment would go past the boarder.
I have never had such problems when receiving shipments from the asian retailers, (who dont use UPS) so it looks like the problems lies with UPS. Anybody else having issues with Airsoft GI or UPS shipping in general? |

UPS are a bunch of crooks.

That is characteristic of UPS shipping. Just do a search of UPS on the forums and you'll see. If its crossing the border, avoid UPS like the plague because they WILL hit you with ridiculous fees.

Typical UPS robbery. That's why I refuse to use them unless I absolutely must. Many retailers won't mind shipping via USPS instead; just contact them before placing your order.

See if you can get them to do USPS
USPS has never ever failed, never taxed me extra, low cost and always pulled through without stupid brokerage fees |

I agree 100% USPS is cheap and reliable, no bs. I dont understand why retailers stick with UPS when they have a reputation for these bullshit fees.
I've tried calling them and asked them to ship via USPS but they say UPS is their only available method. |

I am guessing cause UPS did a good strategy in probably offering better rates than USPS and more benefits.
I see UPS as a more of a fast business to business shipper but business to consumer sucks terribely. USPS it the #1 to the consumer type of service. I never buy anything from US unless its USPS |

No more UPS for me either... 2/2 bad experiences with them is enough to turn me away for good.

UPS is shit.
I ordered form Airsoft GI a couple weeks ago and charged me 39$. The thing is that Airsoft Gi is a good place to get stuff. They are fast but fuck UPS. So if they don't change their Shipping option they will loose a lot of Canadian customers.

Unfortunately, Canadian customers only represent a very small percentage of their business revenue, especially since we don't purchase any guns (which is probably their main money maker) and the bulk of our accessories are ordered from Canadian or Asian sources.
That being said http://www.airsoftgi.com/shipping.php Quote:
Not sure whom you spoke to that said they would only ship via UPS. I've gotten many orders from the US (various companies that usually ship UPS, including ESS, SDS, and even Evike) shipped via USPS after explaining the problem with UPS. Companies usually want to make their customers happy; if you explain the problem wth UPS clearly and politely, they'll usually be happy to offer an alternative (except Redwolf, who insist on forcing stupidly expensive shipping unless you use the PITA wire transfer).
