Home Made Ghillie
Hi everyone, new to the forums here and i had a question about making my ghillie, now ive looked tirlessly to find burlap, but i cannot find any, so my question is, can i substitute the burlap for colored denim?
like if i cut up some old jeans and color them, would that work equally aswell? |

Burlap is easy to find, go to your nearest Canadian Tire or Rona, in the gardening section is where you'll find the rolls of it.

Denim is too heavy to use for a suit and a ton less breathable. You will find if you make a suit out of it you are more than likely going to be a victim of heat exhaustion. Stick to the burlap or jute twine, as stated above you can find it at plenty of places.

Jute in a ball or on a roll. Jute yeah!
I just brought in some Ghuillie capes, nice open mesh an the Jute is already woven in. you can add more or darken a few sections. Tan base is awesome and saves you mega hours. Cheers |

Where are you located? More info may get you more specific help. Also check out Peavy Mart. That, or go to some coffee shops that bring their own beans in in bulk, they'll usually be brought in in those big jute bags, and you may be able to get a couple off of them.

Also, demin will not look like grass as good as jute does. It's also way more expensive.
Plus the fact that when it wear down, it turn to white!

well you see there is your problem... Lazy multiplied by I don't care = nothing happens.. the people that work at most Canadian tire stores would not know what burlap was if they were wearing it as a shirt... which most of them should be to attone for their attitudes. Couple this with the fact that they would not bother to show you if they did have it.. and would likely just tell you they don't so you will go away. Its unreasonable to expect people to be less lazy than you are..

When I made RaiDen and my ghillies, we used burlap at Canadian Tire and some jute twine just to give it some texture.
If you're too lazy to FIND where the jute is, beware. Making and designing the ghillie is a time consuming process. What happens when you get lazy? You get RaiDen's ghillie, which is still half constructed in his basement. Now, they might be out of burlap simply because it's usually sold during fall to wrap trees up. If you feel like spending more money, wal mart usually have rolls of burlap. Or at least my local one does.

Im actually extremely patient but im not one for walking around a store aimlesly since i would have no idea where to find burlap if my life depended on it since ive never actually needed to go out and buy it. the only reason i even know what burlap is is from all the video i watched on ow to make ghillies lol.
so yea, im patient when i want to be. |
