idea for Aftermath's Broxa Evolution

hello, i am thinking of buying the Aftermath's Broxa Evolution from velocity arms.ca I read a review that said it was really loud. i was thinking of inserting a piece of rubber between the body and and where the other piece hits against it. has anybody ever tried something similar to reduce the sound made from the moving piece hitting against the body? i haven't purchased the gun yet, i probably will after Christmas. also since the gun is 100percent TM compatible will this be an easy feat to accomplish?? thanks in advance and MERRY CHRISTMAS to everybody on this forum.

Its not loud, and no, its not really an easy thing to do without the right parts.

TBH with a clearsoft pistol as an avatar I'm slightly inclined to think this is a troll, but incase you aren't I'll do my best to help.

First of all I recommend you read the following threads:
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=58784
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=53202
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=29
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=253
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=49408
Also there are some reposts but read through the links in this post:
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=29

If you've read all those threads, then you'll now have a better idea of whats available and how an AEG works. There is no part of an AEG that hits the body, other then possibly the cocking handle. The majority of noise is made by the mech box, specifically the motor and the piston head. The typcical snapping sound produced by an AEG is from the piston head striking the end of the cylinder. There is a modification available through our retailers once you get AV'd that significantly dampens the impact sound.

Like T_A_N_K was so kind enough to mention, AEGs are not very loud to begin with. Furthermore you can possibly make your own modification, however it may be more trouble than it is worth. If you do something wrong and cause something to break, you'll cause more of a headache for everyone and be stuck with a broken AEG.

Hope this helps, and Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas!

the gun is loud mainly because it has a strong spring and with crap internals. It shoots hard and is a good gun for beginners but i dont think it will keep up if you game with it. The hopup is horrible and misfeeds ever so often. I bought it mainly for backyard plinking.

If your into Aftermath's go for the AK Kraken. Parts are easyer to find, Internals & Externals. But all Aftermath's need some preventative maintenance performed on it before use. Oh and a new battery right off the bat. Merry X-mas.

big thanks

thanks for all the feedback. especially Azuki for giving me those links. I am reading them as we speak. i don't plan on gaming with it (it sounds like too much of a comitment). i just want to shoot stuff around the house/outside(not anything live of course).

as for my avatar, i bought that from buyairsoft.ca, and to be honest i love it! it's good for screwing around with. my first 'airsoft'(more like shitsoft) was this one i got from canadian tire. it was full auto and like 130 bucks. that was before i knew that people played airsoft and that it was a serious hobby. but i don't want to get into it so seriously, it's very involved and that is something i don't really want to do right now. plus i don't want to invest that much money in it. anyways thats where i stand on airsoft, but i do got respect for you guys because this is a kick-ass hobby still!!!!! oh and Merry Christmas once more.

Sounds good. But may I suggest maybe a pellet gun if you're really into shooting stuff. It's far more accurate.

But I know what it's like.... So Good Luck Have Fun and be safe.

I would however suggest maybe an Aftermath Kraken that's just IMO though. First thing you'll need off the bat for most Aftermath guns are a shim, replacing the nylon bushings, and new battery. That just prevents it from breaking down (most are prone to break because of cheap parts, and the QC because they're clones). I have heard of some people pumping tonnes of rounds through their Kraken stock no problem and some people having problems the first few mags. Doing the maintenance first thing should bring it to a good level of durability and you should have a lot of fun plinking.

Or why not call it what it truly was before being absorbed by Christians to convert those believing in, Anglo-Saxon, Germanic, and Lapland Paganism and call it Jōl?

Happy Jōl!
