Kraken AK 47 Show and Tell!
These Krakens are pretty popular it seems, so here's your chance to show pictures of your kraken, and why it's so cool. I'm a noob to airsoft, so I'm very proud of my full metal (excluding some small parts) 400 fps kraken, for under $400. More pics to come!!
*I've got wood furnishings on the way, those'll be on soon. Last edited by Sarpedon; September 14th, 2008 at 16:16.. |

I was thinking about doing just that actually, buying a Kraken and upgrading it. I might do it as a project later on, when I've got a bit more cash to toss around.

With a little self control, a NIB TM, and a nice battery, one can play airsoft without having to worry about the reliability of their gun.
'Course, the poll doesn't answer the real question: Why buy a TM or kraken when full metal AKs have flooded the market? (CA, G&G, high-end chinasoft...) EDIT: this is the mx-5 vs s2000 vs 350z vs 1 series vs hyundai coupe debate. The answer is very much player (or driver) dependent.

Why buy a kraken?
Because you can walk into bass pro and buy one. Accessibility. |

Kraken - $200
Shimiing - $40 (if you get it done at a gun dock) There you go you now have a TM compatible AK that fires 370fps with .2's. Now compare prices of buying a TM AK lol. |

Heck, not even ! I've seen stock Krakens (And I mean never, NEVER, opened) have 30,000 rounds on them and not one single hitch.
I agree though, changing the nylon bushings to metal, and doing a proper shim job will make your Kraken a bit safer down the road, however, if you are lucky enough to get a Kraken that will go for 30,000 rounds and still shoot without a problem, I'd wait for something to break to open the gun and upgrade. Oh BTW Byblos, your mag is upside down. |

Ummm.... it looks like he's taped two together in standard "terrorist style" (I don't know why I just associate doing that with terrorists for some reason). I've also seem M4/16 Users do this just eject the mag, flip it and you're good to go.

It's actually a very piss-poor idea. One of two things can happen: 1) In the heat of the moment you flip it onto an empty mag. 2) You hit the feed lips on something and when you flip it, it doesn't feed. In short, it's done by terrorists because they have no gear or training. |

There are no feedlips on AEG mags.
I tape mags in pairs also, I found it to be very effective. If you have a hard time remembering if you have one mag full or two, mark one of the mags, and insert them into your vest in a way that you always start with the unmarked magazine. That way you can quickly tell if you can still flip the mag to reload or not. "Terrorist Style" - lame definition.
