Radio Communications

So heres a question. How do most of you do your radio communications? Open straight english, Military gargon, your own team terms, or what?

I know most teams use one frequency while another uses a different one, but that doesn't keep some one from overhearing your comm.

Also what do most teams use radio wise. FRS, UHF, ????

Team XT uses FRS radios on a variety of channels. Sometimes we cycle through channels if we believe the channel has been "made" or after a certain amount of time.

We use a mix of Military/Police jargon and our own terms.

Each fire team has designated radio man/men.

Our most important method of communication is probably hand signals and the subtle gestures/body language you learn about each team mate after years of playing with them.

I use a UHF radio.

90%+ of the time I only hear plain English.

Radio Protocols

Are designed to facilitate radio communication.

"milspeak" ain't just for the Elite.. If you know proper radio communication protocols.. your mesages will be clearer, more concise and more efficient.

Being able to communicate effectivly on the radio is part of you individual skills toolkit.. if you have the skills and keep them sharp, then when you need to transmit a quick concise message that could make or break an engagement ( or a game) you won't be blubbering unintelligble gibberish over the radio..

You won't always be communicating with only your team... so having "teamspeak" won't help you in Joint Ops

Most of the Ottawa boys use the same proceedure. Example:

"Roughneck, Tinman"
"Tinman here."
"<message>"
"<reply>"
"Roughneck out"

around here we use CF military jargons.

for example

"Alpha 1 this is Carlie 1 Message Over"
"Charlie 1 this is Alpha 1 send message over"
"-message- over"
"Roger that over"

So,... Screwing around in the woods where no one will see you and doing something questionably legal can be risky enough. Screwing around with radio coms that may be traveling farther than you think because of the nature of radio waves and natural resonances is just being a dick.
