US WW2 Gaiters: How to wear them?

Hey guys,

In the middle of my WW2 Ranger impression and got my gaiters today. I figured out how to attach the string to the clips at the side but how do you secure the string ends at the top or the bottom? I tried tucking them in but I think they would eventually come loose.

Does anyone have a guide or tips?

Thanks,

The strings at the bottom should be secured because this is were you start, like shoe laces. Once you tie off the top you slip them in and down into the gaitors. If done correctly they will not slip out.

I have a picture of my leggings but for some reason it won't post.

I am not sure what you mean leecas,

I have one end of string at the bottom and the other end at the top, but nothing to tie them to.

I think I may be doing the whole string positioning wrong...
