why alwas 350 FPS

No doute thares a good reason why game guns are limeted to 350 FPS I just dont understand why? My TM M14 is pushing 450 FPS and my frends say a paint ball hurts more.I tend to agree with them. so if its not the ouch factor what is it?

Thats what we did I shot my frend at 10 feet and then he shot me.
It hurt dont get me wrong but my remington .177 hurt alot more and thats what we were using for years befor we hurd about airsoft

350fps is the indoor velocity limit. It set the minimum safe engagement distance at 10 feets to have 1j impact. 1 joule is the standard safe impact of a BB on the skin. Outdoor, we use 400fps for AEG and 450fps for snipers.

Paintball hurt more, because of the higher joules on impacts, but the projectile don't penetrate skin compared to BB. BBs don't hurt as much, but penetrate skin easely. BBs also tend to come in burst, wich paintballs don't.

Playing with airguns pellets is stupid. I've see a youth do that a few years ago using cheap Canadian Tire pistols. He got one of his nuckle broken.
