Is this mechbox ok?
I am planning to upgrade my TM SR-16 M4 mechbox, and I have chosen these parts from WGC:
1) http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper...ts%20for%20AEG 2) http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper...cat_GG%20Parts 3) http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper...8_cat_Gearboxs So are these part good? |

Get a different kit if you must upgrade that much, the spring alone is a 500fps one and will kill any mechbox you put it in. Get one with a 110 spring in it if yo uinsist on a full upgrade kit. I installed the same kit a few weeks back (different spring) and the owner is bringing it back to me to install another kit because he didn't like the noise or the slow trigger response/ low rate of fire.
Why not just get bushings, spring and spring guide upgrades? You don't need to spend $300 to have a reliable AEG (often the opposite is true). |

looks like a good choice, make sure u have a big enough battery, that probably the only thing u may want to consider

So you then that the version 2 reinforced mechboxes just take longer to break then. Largely it's about spring choice (down to the brand), piston and pistonhead choice than anything else. 450fps is a pretty high order for a V2 gun, if you pick a nice spring that isn't too stiff yet can get you up there, plus a silent piston head set up (like in those kits you posted), then your new reinforced mechbox will last longer. Oh, and that kit above has a bore up cylinder kit, and is meant for barrels over 550-590mm long. Not good for anything shorter.
Oh, BTW, rate of fire also has an effect on the trigger repsonse time, and vice versa. |

Just change spring, spring guide and bushings..MS110 would be your best bet..should get you up to 380-400 fps..Most fields class anythin over 400 fps as sniper and you can only use semi-auto..With what you've shown that your interested in purchasing, you'd more then likely be lookin at 450 to 500 fps..I'm no gun doctor but I have dabbled so this is just my opinion

But what do you think about this mechbox, this should fire about 400fps.
http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper...0_cat_Gearboxs Does this include all the parts that are needed for working, there are only writen few things. Do I need stronger motor than TM EG1000? Last edited by gooseman14; April 1st, 2008 at 13:49.. |

EG1000 would be fine.

That'd most likely be over 400fps (a Prometheus 120 in my MP5 shot 435fps), but if you are fine with that..............
EG1000 would be fine with it, but an EG700 would be quieter and possibly give a higher rate of fire. |

One thing to keep in mind, a couple years ago a guy ordered a Systema full mechbox from overseas, WGC or RedWolf, and it got seized by customs, claiming it was a gun part. Took a lot of time and effort to get them to accept it wasn't a "gun part", it was just a box with gears, piston, etc. The thread alone must have been a good 10 pages long with frustration, advice, updates, etc.

I am talking about Systema M120 http://www.mechbox.com/site/inside-t...son-chart.html |

And I am talking from experience. The rating is 120 meters per second, but various brands have various stiffnesses and actual output. The mechbox with that spring in it might be rated for 392fps, but it'll have a bearing spring guide in it, adding another 15fps to that, then adding a longer barrel (100mm longer than you have will increase by 20fps over your old barrel), or a tightbore will add another 10fps. So adding all that together, depending on the other parts you choose, could net you up to 430fps easily.
