Wink my Steyr AUG: long and short barrel.

Hello all!

So here's the story: I was searching for a way to mount the VLI somewhere else than on the barrel, since I wished to change them whenever I wanted, without interfering with the light;
I also wanted the VLI to be close enough to my right hand (I'm left-handed) so that I could turn it on without using a pressure switch ( I dont like pressure switches)
I just got those replica compensators from Primary Weapons, and I kinda like them; I put the .308 version on the long one, and the 5.56 one on the shorty

I tried many things but it's just impossible to mount a big battery anywhere on it without destroying the looks.

I love Augs, and those look awesome, Jimski... Those sure are crazy looking compensators. How hard does it shoot? And do you have separate mechboxes matched to the barrel lengths?

Just a suggestion, if you're left handed, move the ejector cover to the left side

I've played with an AUG and they don't feel comfortable to me, but you AUG looks really nice and the short barrel looks really cool.

thanks!
yes, I have a sp100 spring mechbox for the shorty, and another one with a sp110 spring and a mosfet for the long barrel.

you're right about the cover, lol.

You get used to the AUG.
At first I hated it, but the balance is just too confortable (when reloading - and the weight isn't on the front end of the gun, so it's gentler for the wrist.) - plus the bullpup design is so efficient keeping a good grouping even with a short barrel...

ahh, I don't know...it feels like lying

it's a Steyr AUG Carbin version imported from the US many years ago (not by me), so when you remove the flash hider you actually remove the whole outer barrel, and you're left with a 14+ thread right out of the receiver - I just added a 14- converter.

I had to modify the AUG original rail pretty heavily to have the tri-rail fit.
have to admit the original AUG civvie rail Suxx Ballz0rz.

Looks great with the short barrel! Reminds me of the Seburo look by Shirow:
