Question An odd Question

I am working on a mod for my real action marker M4 to
fire 6mm airsoft,C02 is around 800psi,I need to drop the
psi down to what AEG would put out.My question is,
what psi dose a AEG fire at in stock form?.

Thanks mack_silent,I had a theory that a AEG would fire
between 80-120 psi,as my gbb uses propane at 100psi.
I had planed to use regulator between the 45g tank and
the marker.I was trying to get a base figure on a AEG to
to set my primary pressure. At present,my 45g tank will
fire 120 rounds of 43cal. rubber rounds.Firing 6mm will
require a fraction of the pressure to around 300 rounds.
I will be using the M4 marker in the pic for the testing.

Well I guess 1 answer is better than being flamed.
I'll just carry on and mod my RAP4 M4 marker.:banghead:

Your question, not so odd.

THIS... is an odd question...

It's odd for the reason I'm asking for the psi of a Aeg.
Not a question I've seen asked.

The syntax of your question is a bit odd, which is why you've never seen it asked before. You're asking for a value that is not easily calculated, when you consider that AEGs are powered by electricity to crank a spring-powered piston. Compression occurs between the piston head and the cylinder head and is then ejected through an air nozzle.

The power source is mostly in the spring, but the "psi" output is also highly dependent on the piston head.

Airsoft guns typically have their output measured at the muzzle in FPS - a reading of the velocity of the projectile as it leaves the barrel in feet per second.

Automatic Electric guns in Ontario are typically limited to 400fps at outdoor fields (it could be higher or lower, depending on the game host) and that measurement is made with 0.20g BBs and the work put on the BB is 1.48Joules.

Because gas weapons register output differently as the weight of the projectile goes up or down, here is a general limit of calculations you should be measuring with:

If you are shooting a 0.12g BB, 1.48 Joules of output would be ~ 517fps
If you are shooting a 0.20g BB, 1.48 Joules of output would be ~ 400fps
If you are shooting a 0.23g BB, 1.48 Joules of output would be ~ 373fps
If you are shooting a 0.25g BB, 1.48 Joules of output would be ~ 358fps
If you are shooting a 0.28g BB, 1.48 Joules of output would be ~ 338fps
If you are shooting a 0.30g BB, 1.48 Joules of output would be ~ 327fps
If you are shooting a 0.36g BB, 1.48 Joules of output would be ~ 298fps
If you are shooting a 0.40g BB, 1.48 Joules of output would be ~ 283fps
If you are shooting a 0.45g BB, 1.48 Joules of output would be ~ 267fps

FPS is typically measured with a chronograph.

You'd have to fire through a chronograph while adjusting your PSI accordingly to meet the field regulations.

I guess you'd have to ask someone with the proper measuring tools and a GBB rifle?

I don't want to use a shell catcher which is what the
rap bb system uses.I also don't want a jac ststem with the
hose.I want to use a gas system without using shells.
I will be able to use this rain or shine and not worried
about water. This design will sound nice when fired.
I can always fall back on my AEG for cooler weather.
The rap 6mm kit is cheap and comes with no evidence
of its ability work as claimed. For all I know, the 6mm could
roll out barrel like the 177.bb kit I have from them,I instead
converted it to a 177.pellet and it works, but I had to mod
their system to get it to fire their 177.bb's.
Thanks for the input guys.

i've used mine in a downpour and the shittiest freezing rain it worked fine until the wind got a little strong for the bb's and if you plan to use the the gun without a line connecting to a separate tank then you just have a very limited power supply.
If you do get the RAP4 airsoft conversion do yourself a favour and get the ones with a hopup if all else fails then go back to the AEG, running a gas set up will be alot of fun but be prepared to do a lot of work and carry more gear

The shells are so cheap you can just lose them and you dont have to use a remote line then Co2 is in the stock.

Good luck.
