Most hop up units have a plastic clip at the top near the front of the unit that you just pop off. Make sure that the hop up is turned alll the way OFF, then proceed to remove the clip and pull the hop up unit back, off of the barrel (careful not to loos the little rubber nub thatwill more than likely fall out when you remove the unit). If the hop up bucking is a little dry or swollen from excess silicone lube, the hop up unit might be a little difficult to pull off.
Install is just the same, but in reverse. Make sure that you inspect the bucking to ensure that it is lined up correctly (there will be a molded slot that lines up with the slot in the barrel) and that the bucking is not damaged. Then make sure that the little rubber nub is place into the new hop up units lever chamber and then slide the hop up unit onto the barrel (advisable to do with the unit upside down to ensure that the hop up nub doesn't fall out) and make sure that you have lined up the barrel correctly with the hop up unit. If you do not, the hop up will not work. Simply test it by adjusting the hop up while looking down the barrel....you should see the bucking being pushed down into the barred while you are adjusting it. Also, be careful not to stretch the bucking while installing the hop up unit, use some silicone if needed, otherwise you will cause the receiving end of the bucking to become an oval shape and this will result in feeding jambs and dry firing. After testing, reinstall the clip. Note; Some hop up units do not have a clip, but use small set screws instead that are located on either side of the hop up near the front. Also, you may have problems if you use certian types of tight bore barrels, as some have a larger outter diameter than others and you may have to do some very careful drilling and filing to the hop up unit in order to fit the barrel and hop up bucking. Though I'd strongly advise against doing this mod yourself......just try to find a hop up unit that'll fit and save yourself the aggravation. Hope this is helpfull. SHA DO
