Airsoft in the News
Hey guys. My editor wants a story from me, and I'm thinking of tossing him a story about Canadian Airsoft. I need at least three sources, so anyone in this area who wants to talk about the state of the sport, legality, or economics of airsoft can PM me. I'll try to set up a meeting with you.
If you feel you have important information to give, please give me your name (real name please) and phone number. no ranting please

How likely is your editor to accept a story showing airsoft in a good light?

In my opinion
you should not do a piece about "airsoft" the piece should be focused on the activity.. and the community.. not the guns...
I have a little experience with dealing with the press.... the results have been "uneven" at best... The best pieces don't mention the word "airsoft" I really don't like the term "airsoft", its Jargon.. and has no meaning outside of our community... I really hate it when people call themselves "airsofters" or say they are going "airsofting" I think such terms are a holdover from paintball... an activity that most try to distance themselves from Tactical simulation... or military simulation is more descriptive.. and takes the focus away from the tools.. that said.. it is very dificult to cast this activity with a positive light... we are simulating shooting people after all. I'm not shy of the press.. but I'm not going to go around seeking them out..

fine then, the focus of the piece will be on "community wargames"
I never intended this to be a piece specifically on guns, since the very mention of the word would make us all look like criminals

You know...
There are plenty of people on this board with loads more experience in the community than me...
I am reluctant to do anything with the public press for fear of offending members of the community.. No one voted me mouthpiece... and I don't need another crapstorm...

The thing is, no one wants airsoft to be seen at all. It's a common belief that if we go undetected, nothing bad can happen.
