Harnessing CO2
Does any one know if a spyder victor paintball gun is less than 7 inches long? i was thinking of custom building a sniper rifle and was wondering if this gun was short enough to be used as a power source. on google all i could find was the barrel length of the spyder victor so i dont know if the body is small enough for my intended use.
i know people hate paintball but its either butcher a paintball gun or wait until the escort blowback mechbox is released and im rather impatient. |

i dont think that would be a good idea to use because the speed at which a BB would leave a paintball gun would be incredible. A paintball is what? 2.8 times bigger than a BB? and they are fired from the gun at around 300 fps if you play speedball im told. To top it all off, a paintball weighs CONSIDERABLY more than a bb, so the amount of force needed to launch a paintball at 300fps is huge compared to the amount of force needed to launch a 6mm bb.

i was thinking that because the barrel of a paintball gun is considerably shorter and there is a pressure adjustment mechanism on the gun its self that i would be able to adjust, though the regulator on the gun or an external one on a tank, the psi to a level low enough for airsoft. i sounds feasible to me but iv never dealt with paintball so im not sure.
besides apparently the blow back on that particular paintball gun is quite good. |

That sounds like a retarded amount of work..
+ You'd have to find a hopup that works... All in all, Wait till the escort system comes out. |

if the gun is short enough to fit enough couldn't i just put a Nozzle on the end of the paintball guns bolt that's compatible with any generic airsoft hopup? the blowback on the paintball gun would act like the tappet plate moving the Nozzle out of the hopup and loading another bb.

+1 the amount of work required and the expense that it will be is ridiculous. You would have to get a barrel adapter to help attach your 6mm barrel and such and at the same time house your hop-up unit and create a good air seal. the spyder markers are not that great as far as paintball guns go. Tippmann really is the way to go. That being said, you would be better off using a low pressure gun if any at all cause they would be more efficient. the Dye markers have a really god regulator (best in the business im told). they would be the best, but they also cost as much as a PTW. save for for drop in kit from Escort. I for one think its a dumb idea. If you drop in that kit, airsoft just becomes paintball with bb's. I left paintball so that i can get rid of the annoying tank and hose and be able to safely play in the winter cause the guns are electric not CO2 powered. overall, its a bad idea, wait for the kit to come out in stores

lol the lines and everything would be hidden in the gun (im trying to recreate a wa2000 and a small tank just fits in the front grip of the gun) also you wouldnt have to modd the paintball gun at all, it would just have to be lined up properly so that it matches with the hopup just like a mechbox is in a regular airsoft gun. if i had to resort to an external tank i wouldnt bother.
the only thing i would have to custom build, if the bolt travles far enough, is a little nozzle and its even possible that i could just attach a ready made airsoft nozzle, if its long enough. |

Go for it if yah got 3-4 grande to spend But for that price your better off with a systema with a custom inner barrel and a sniper front handguard... and youll get 3 times more performance out of it.

How many years of machining experience do you have?
If it's under 5, I'd say completely forget it. It'd be cheaper to buy a NBB and build it off of that.. Then you have the Hopup and everything already.. |

well than check this site out, it will have everything you need:
http://rap4.com/paintball/os/rap4-ai...c-261_409.html Read all that. at the bottom there is a kit to convert a paintball gun into an airsoft gun or something like that. that is the best i can do. EDIT: Dude you go to york, so do i. we can meet up if you want sometime. you have to understand, the bolt of the paintball gun is not like a rifle bolt, it wont work for airsoft. the thing is i have access to a mill, so makign the body wouldnt be a problem, it would take alot of time yes but id just have to pay for metal. and the paint ball gun and tank would only cost about 2 dollars together maby 250 with a regulator. so with everything it shouldnt end up costing over 4-500 dollars, though im not sure if it would preform well enough.
