from what ive hear ics makes one hell of an ak74. They are known for the bolt that goes all the way back for that ak74. Shes full metal and a beaut. They also sell the m16 series and mp5s. As for top ive only heard of their m249, however have read some reviews and supposedly it has a lot of problems with it that need to be fixed before play. Hope i helped.

Have you checked, and Searched, the Reviews section?

ICS

I have an ICS M4 and have put over 17,000 rounds through it without any trouble at all.

Good, then you have your answers. Next, check the Doctor's Corner and at least choose a gun you dont see mentioned all the time.

Or go see what folks really use at games. Since few folks like to use crap, what you see at games is a reflection of what is worth the money.

Traded my AK74M for an M4 for aesthetic reasons...but performance wise the AK was a beautiful piece..soild, reliable and it looked awsome. I'd give it 10 out of 10...My ICS experience was a good one.

And just a quick side note...(directed to Greylocks)...Sure read the review section and go through the doc's corner, but i always thought the idea of an online forum such as this was so that we could connect with other players throuought the contry and share our opinions and ideas...if no one responds then what purpose does this forum have? Most of the time i am on board with you, advocating reading the available material and searching for your own answers, but sometimes it's nice to get some personal opinions...without which your FAQ and Review sections would be non-existant!

If you want an AK and want it to look like a real thing get VFC. If you are not willing to spend a grand than get a CA. ICS AK doesn't really look like a real AK74M, it looks more like old school AK74 with plastic furniture.

And the best place to see personal opinions in action (and get them) is at games/meets. You 'contact' people in person, nothing better. You even get shown what the players mean. The Reviews and Doc's corner are the same as any written impression, just already written. The Doc's gives clues as to what is bad.

I have 2 ICS M4's and a TOP M249. The M4's are very robust and come full metal. The only real upgrades you need to do to them would be a new spring and bushings. With a Guarder 110 spring and bushings you'll get around 390fps. Then you can add whatever else you want. The split mechbox seems to annoy some people, but I absolutely love it. Very easy to work on and swap springs out of if you change game environments.
The TOP M249 is a good gun, but it uses a bellows system instead of a piston. The first upgrade that needs done here is to pitch that and replace it with either an ANGS or Guarder cylinder, polycarbonate piston, and preferrably a Guarder mechbox bottom. The way the mechbox is designed is absolute simplicity, and it will spew forth many many more BBs than a V2 or 3 mechbox before breaking. I bought mine well used and put God knows how many bags of BB s through it. It's truly a hose, and has taken everything I've thrown at it. The only real drawback is that its all metal and heavy as hell. It's currently up for sale, but I'm thinking of pulling the sale, I love it too much...

We, new members, need more people like you here.
I do read ALL reviews here and pretty much everywhere else, but when we ask questions is because we want to hear from people who have had first hand experience with the guns and used it for some time.

I thought the ICS Ak74M was the one that actually looks way better and more real than the CA one.
Isn't the ICS Ak74M full metal? (plastic furniture???)

I hear really bad things about old ICS guns and really good things about new ones. They're not exactly formula one guns, but they're durable on the inside. I've lost faith in TOP guns, the only two I've seen in manitoba spent most of their time being broken.

Get personal opinions at games and meets instead of asking people to repeat what is already written. Heck, you can even get to TRY the guns. What is better? Tell me, tell all of us. Anything else is spoonfeeding. Nothing that has been asked so far by yourself or others is NOT in the Reviews (like the metal content), or cant be shown to you in person.

Imagine that at the same time you can get age-verified at most events. Solves more than one problem for you, doesnt it?

How do you think we learned stuff? Just by sitting behind a computer?
