A&K M4 CQB

For years I've wanted to start airsofting, but what put me right off was the prices (I'm from Canada so everything is +$200)

Recently I noticed an A&K M4 CQB on a local website for $299
http://aasurplus.ca/airsoft/product_...3487f55887ad10

I always had my heart set on a CA M15A2 Carbine, but thats a price of $570.00, quite a bit more.

My question is, is this thing worth it?
Is this thing upgradable, I've heard it can take regular Marui upgrades, so a metal body and an m120% spring would boost it right up there, Right ?

Any feedback would be greatly appriciated.

~Shawn

well what you see in price is probably what you'll see in quality. form what i have heard, CA external quality is top notch and its a full metal gun. A&K is I'm assuming all plastic. i have also heard that A&K is on par with firepower, and i made the mistake of buying a re branded firepower xm8 for 230 (the only thing metal on the gun was the lead weights). and is was broken out of the box. In my opinion is if you can save up the 300 then wait a little more and get the CA. trust me its only 300 for a reason.

PS. if you look on A&A the firepower xm8 is there for 300 also and you know how mine turned out...go with CA please

but its just my two cents, keep in mind i havent owned a A&K.

Airsoft is expensive. Plain and simple lol.

If you want cheap but with some decent quality check out the JG guns. Get age verified and you can check out the vast amount of guns for sale on the classifieds here. As a beginner, you'll save hundreds on picking up used packages.

TM are great internally, but do lack cosmetically with plastic bodies Thats my personal opinion, but they've built up a good name for themselves over the years. (if that doesn't turn you off then they're awesome guns to get) Classic Army to me are better externally and have metal modies on a lot of their guns... some will say they're amazing internally some have little things nitpick about their pistons etc.)

A&K wont compare at all internally to TM/CA... Stick to tried and tested named brands with good reviews. Google is your friend

After reading through the review and taking in all your opinions im still very torn. $299 for the gun that (atleast from the review standpoint) dosen't seem too bad. (it seems the reviewer liked the abundance of metal parts for a very cheap gun).

+ my entire plan is to buy the cheap-o gun, upgrade the spring, bushings and anything else to improve performance, and if possible, look into another gearbox entirly.

what puts me off the CA is a one lump sum of $579.99
when this (right now) would be $299 and a month or 2 down the road a new gearbox which would be cheap from out of country, for a gearbox is easally imported, or a metal body. That is whats still pushing me in that direction.

Now with that being said, I've lurked this forum for quite a long time, and I do hold everyones opinion in high regard.

So I guess my point is, after my "idea" does it make anymore sence to get cheap ass one, and upgrade or would that be foolish and more expensive in the long run?

think of it this way
A&K 300 gun
most are 200 +/- metal body
300 for a complete mechbox?
that alone is 800

or CA - 600
comes with the metal body
and you dont need to upgrade it

in the end why get the cheap one if you know your going to be ditching everything on it anyway.

Didn't mean that, meant the gearbox.
Yeah metal body would be bought locally.

Yeah, I kinda absent mindedly came to that conclusion minutes after posting.
We'll see about age verified and I can maybe check out something like that but used.
I've been meaning to get verified, it's just such a hassle, since I work nights and weekends (I only get mon + tues off).

Thanks for all your input guys.

The gun is plastic and must be painted, but its inexpensive and has top quality internals.

Only $80.00 more and I can say my JG M4 is good for the price!

If anything, step it up to the next lvl and go with JG. As of late the quality of their items has been going up. The reviews of most JG guns are good. As for compatability they are 100% compatable with TM parts

Dont cheap out. Cheaping out in airsoft is like riding a bicycle with no seat. You save some money not going all the way, and you still go places with it, but in the end, all youve really done is given yourself a pain in the ass.

Does anyone know if the front triangle sights are removable on this AEG?

I was considering this one myself, but the lack of a removable carry handle turned me off of it. After a lot of consideration, I know I'm going to go for a CA M15A4 Rifle from 007 unless I can find something cheaper in the classified section once my age status is updated. Had my ID checked this afternoon so I should have access soon.
