CAG36C Upgrade Questions
Hi me and my bro(We're going 50/50 with the gun but he will be the owner on paper because im only 15) are thinking of getting the CAG36C and fully upgrading it. so we made this post to make sure everything will work with e CAG36C. Please tell us if these parts are already in the gun of if im give links to2 of the same things just with a different name(we understand that most of these parts arent needed but we have 3 grand in the bank and board as hell, so we decided to put this money to something a little more constructive than video games and other stupid stuff.).
I'm going to give you the parts in links just in case the name is wrong or if you want to read the description. http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...roducts_id=186 http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...roducts_id=653 http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...roducts_id=395 http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...roducts_id=126 http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...roducts_id=679 http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...roducts_id=121 http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...roducts_id=165 http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...oducts_id=1842 http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...roducts_id=421 http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=17986 http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...roducts_id=307 And thats just the upgrades were still putting on a scope/ vertical grip/ a surefire flash light and some other doodads! P.S. If anything on here looks retarded blame my bro not me! P.P.S. im getting the gun from http://aasurplus.ca/airsoft/product_...products_id=31 if you know were i can find a cheaper one that would be nice! |

You don't need any of those things, like you already pointed out. Generally speaking, if you're not sure if an upgrade will work, you shouldn't be doing it. If you have 3 grand you'd like to drop, I'd honestly suggest you get a second gun so you won't have to share. Or invest in some T-bills.
The only things you could get that might be remotely useful at this point in time are some spare mags and perhaps a red dot sight. I've been following the sport since '97 and playing for almost as long, and even I wouldn't buy those internals for my own gun let alone recommend it for someone else. Bah I'm not doing the upgrades my bro's friend in Peach land though is, he's been working maintenance on the local P.D.'s airsoft guns but he's been in Mexico for 2 weeks and we haven't been able to get a hold of him, so we decided to fun this stuff by you guys.

buy two g36c's and install tightbores and metal bushings, even a spring guide if you so desire. It will last you ALONG time, And in the future if any parts are REALLY wearing out then you can just purchase it. with the upgrades i listed it will cost you around 600 a gun. And being that the guns are identical you would not have to buy piles of more mags, And if you are on the same team you could do the assault(no gear) and support(all mags lights pistol mags ect)

Clarify where you live (update your profile) and local people will be able to help you. If you are not in Canada, there are FAR different laws involved than here.
The rest has already been said. |

You don't need to do even half of those upgrades to a CA36 to make it a great gun. Upgrading all that gives you more areas of failure. Game with the gun first, and then you'll see what needs to be upgraded.
Classic Army guns already have metel bushings. For a new spring, all you need is a spring guide and you're good.

Is a stock CAG36 ( not g36c) even that good?

The stock CA series are pretty well on par performance wise with the TM's, but the TM parts are going to last you ALOT longer. Personally I prefer the fibre glass texture on the CA as opposed to the shiny plastic on the TM gun.

If you want it to last, leave it stock. Frankenguns experience failures far more frequently. Those gearbox parts were all planned to work together. If you start substituting them out, you'll need far more regular maintenance than if you never opened the box at all.

depends which internals you use, I know some people's guns break down every game, lot's of stock AEG's break down if their NOT upgraded, the only problem I've ever had from one of my guns was the tappet plate on my G3 finally wore out and it was the stock TM tappet plate being run by stock TM gears. Surprised the thing lasted like 3 years though lol
so from what I've seen: tokyo mauri: leave stock for long time classic army: M4 series is hit and miss, may require replacement parts after a few games but after that their awesome, usually only requires 15-80$ worth of parts and your good to go G&P: if you don't get someone to shim your mechbox right away you could do some serious damage to your gears and motor, their internal parts are good quality but their mechboxes aren't assembled by a properly trained gunsmith |

Not sure if your upgrade person is in California (where is Peachland?). If he is, and the gun goes south of the border, it will be destroyed by Customs when it comes back.
