Okay i can distinctly remember clikcing somewhere and finding some great throat mics but now i can't remember what site it was now that i have to money
can someone please direct me to some awesome throat mics

Save yourself some aggravation and money...save up and get a decent headset/boom mic. The available throat mic's are horrible to say the least.

Your not kidding. I just bought one and it sucks to say the least. You can hardly hear me on the other side. Thats with me shouting. Wispering you cant hear a thing.

I personally use a pair of Motorola Talkabout radios, good qual not the shit, with a 30 dollar ear mic headset that I have rigged up to a homemade PTT button. I never have any issues with this, I can hear perfectly, talk with the press of a button, and the radios never give out on me. I have a thread with pictures and details on how I made the PTT on these forums already.

I use the Cavalvy Headset modified for use with my Saber 1 Radio. This thing by far is the best bang for your buck. If your using a standard two pin Motorola or Kenwood plug you do not need to modify it at all, just plug and play. If you look in the Gear for sale section I believe I remember seeing some for sale a while back. If not you can get them from WGC, Redwolf etc.

I bought a cheap throat mic from Radio shack for $20 and custom made a nylon throat strap. It works great for my motorola two ways and i also use this with my 800mhz walkie at work. I've been thinking bout ordering one of these from Redwolf.

You can probably find some retailers within the US that sells them instead of ordering it from HK. Here is a canadian retailer.

I bought one for my brother the other day and we're having difficulty finding the sweet spot for the throat mic attachment. Where do you generally position it? It seems like it picks up my voice better higher on my throat, rather than lower - but it still doesn't sound like it should.

Also, when dealing with 3rd party mics, just keep in mind that you need a compatible connector pin. IASUS sells about 6 different versions if you're looking at the NT Sniper Pro.

I had a $20 throat mic and up 'til last month it worked great (I bought it a year or two ago).
