I just bought a Large 8.4 3000 MAH battery off the internet and I was wondering when I get it how long I should charge it. Ive read the FAQ's for batteries but I cant figure out how long I should charge it for.

from shortyusa
"When charging your battery be sure to only charge it for the correct time for your battery and charger. Charging less than or more than the charge time can reduce the capcity of your battery or overheat and damage the cells of the battery. The easiest way find the correct charge time is to take the capacity of the battery and divide it by the output of the charger. For example: 2100mah/300mah = 7 hrs" I tried the formula with my cheap batter and charger 1100/250= 4.4 hours, Which is the same as other users told me. Arnies had a battery calculator a long time ago, I'm surprised it's still there.

if you get a digital charger it beeps and stops chargin when its done, only 40$ or so
overcharging batteries causes them to die undercharging only 'damages' the battery life if its a NiCd |

I have one last quick question. I read that I dont need to discharge my battery if it is a Ni-Hm. Is that true? Because the FAQ seems to say you dont have to but its a good idea, or something about "cycling" it?

yes, you dont need to discharge ni-mh because they do not have a memory effect like the ni-cd, but its always nice to discharge and recharge any battery, prolongs life i think.

Ain't the formula more lile bat(mAh) / charger(mAh) * 1.5
So a 3300 mAh charging at 300 mAh will take 16 hours... I migth be wrong.
