The SPEARS are just like any other vest, except has a groin protector. It's about as warm as a CIRAS... But that's the price you pay for armor. It definitely looks hard |

In your first post you show pics that are not of the SPEAR, but the IBA/OTV. If you want the IBA/OTV in ACU, phatom makes a replica and you can get them from redwolf (at least thats were I found them)

i used an interceptor all last season, still do this season. works great. the spear is a better choice over the interceptor as you have more pals straps front and back. i had to rig my hyd. carrier on to mine, where as with a spear you wouldnt. also the pals on the chest go higher and i believe more length wise as well.
like i said i used my g&p replica one which uses 1000 cordura, and is colored properly for use with hi quality pouches (tt, hsgi ect) i sold it to a team mate and got an issue interceptor which is actually more comfortable, but almost identical. no hotter than my ciras, you still have large deltoid openings which allow air flow across your torso.i definatly reccommend it over any sub-phantom quality ciras not only for its compatability, but its uniqueness as youll be the only, or at least the very few with one on at a game.

I cant tell what is used in the vest on the link that I provided (some sort of foam padding----> they said it is intended for airsoft/paintball.)
I prefer the look of this vest over CIRAS. |

What are you looking to accomplish? Carry mags? Want lots of realestate for miscelaneous gear?
Personally I wouldn't wear that thing. Looks fine for someone sitting in a vehicle all day or standing at a static post. Looks like a pain in the ass to move in, however. |

Then that's supposed to be a copy of the IBA?
A lot of people bought CIRAS and other full armor systems when they became available. Then they sold them. Full body armor systems are hot and uncomfortable, and half the realestate is unreachable anyway. I can't comment on that make, but I personally don't trust anything that won't carry real rounds. If it says "paintball vest", it's probably shoddy construction. If it looks great but falls apart after 6 weeks, there's no point. You should look for a review on that product before proceeding, and not one that comes from a paintball player with nothing to compare it to. |
