Holster Styles? Paintball-related

Hi guys, I signed up to this site to poke around a bit and check it out. I've been trying to get answers to this question on a paintball site, but with it dealing with a firearm replica, I figured this might be a better place to ask.

I've been poking around, researching stuff for a new setup I may be running in a while, involving a RAP4 pistol. After shooting an F/X training pistol at the police station, that new P99 looks pretty sweet I've been researching holsters (for real guns), and I'm wondering what kind of holsters are easy to run with.

I used to have a dropleg holster for my Zeus a while back, and I hated it. Whenever I tried to run with it, it spun around my leg and got tangled. Hopefully not all "tactical" holsters are like that, right? As far as the ones with skidplates go, why don't they just grip your pants and spin? What's exactly holding them to your leg? (hopefully not a deathgrip from the legstraps...)

I was thinking about getting a duty-style belt holster, I'm pretty sure that it would be fine to run with, since cops do it every day But how well would it work for a paintball application?

I was flipping through the Safariland catalog, and they had a few shoulder holsters (both horizontal and vertical). Do they tend to get in the way when running at all? I wonder if they get hit often, since the torso is the largest target. How stable are the shoulder holsters?

No idea about a paintball application, but most people here favor either a cross-draw or drop leg holster.

I don't know the dimension of paintball pistols, but dropleg works well for me. Just make sure you have it nice and high up and not by your knees.

I think he's talking about the "RAP" glock. It's 1:1 to the g17 I think.

If your dropleg holster was flopping around, it's a piece of shit holster. Of course, I don't know that you can get a great one for a paintball pistol, as they're generally purpose-made for the pistol you drop into it.

Yeah, generally, the drop leg shouldn't spin at all, if it is proper it has the correct straps and in most cases are connected to a belt of some kind

A couple notes on the dropleg I had :

It wasn't secured to the belt at all, it kinda just spun around on the belt. It only had one loop going to the belt, as well.

I have a drop leg Tornado Tactical holster, however instead of using both drop leg straps I have the holster attached to my pistol belt with only one strap running around my leg to hold it.

rap4 makes the coolest paintball guns ive ever seen and they also have an airsoft gun its pretty cool

Veovius -Given the pistol type, I'd recommend a Safariland 6004 or 6005. That's a thigh rig, and I guarantee it won't move around on you.

yea i slapped my leg drop higher up, pretty much on my belt. the straps sit close to the package but still comfortable and its holding my Deagle pretty snug.

Hmm, maybe I'll go with the safariland one...I was looking at those already, but I wasn't sure which model to get. Any comments about their middle finger break?
