Hey! It's Chubby's helmet setup (warning: slow connection death)
Howdy
Well I finally have what I need for my cranium and thought I would share and offer my own end user opinion on it all. I combined the PVS 14 red dot scope with the JUST MICH 2001 helmet, a pair of goggles I had laying around and a cool looking headset I found by accident on the internet. Although I'm happy with the helmet, I wasn't too super thrilled about the suspension system that came with it. The helmet is the most comfortable helmet I've worn so far with it's padded inserts and it fits really nicely on my skull. As for the chin cup, I still haven't found much ergonomic use for it. It doesn't conform to my chin no matter how I've adjusted the retention straps and slips down with a little bit of a tug, under my jaw; so I'll probably just modify it. The horizontal strap connected between the two rear straps that run behind the ears was already falling apart, so I cut it off and haven't had any problems yet (I'll end up making my own rear strap connction and use that or just install a brand new retention system). The headset I used is called the "Commander tactical headset". It works with two prong Motorola professional series radioes. I found that with it's "unique" deisgn of running a metal connector between the two ear peices _horizontally_ around the back of the head and a couple of velcro straps over the top of the skull, it made it impossible to fit the helmet on over it, so I had to pretty much just work the headset straps around the helmet straps and integrate both helmet and headset as one. It's not too bad now that I've fiddled around with different ways to don the helmet with the headset inside of it, so I don't really mind it anymore. As for the goggles, I found the helmet and headset along with the PVS 14 to work really well together and not inhibit goggle function. It took some messing around to get the helmet and the goggles to work together when I initially got everything, but after adjusting some tension here and some tension there, I found that the goggles and helmet worked well together and I didn't have my goggles grinding down my face. So over all, I would have to say that initially when I put everything together, I was a bit disappointed with some of the ergonomic disagreements between gear peices, but with enough patience and effort I got everything to work together and now I'm quite happy with what I've got now |

Why don't you get the MSA chin strap and replace with the one you have it on your helmet, it's not expensive, and it's comfortable than the one you are using. I once had the same chin strap just exactly the same.

As for my scope, well the story behind it is that I bought the whole set up (PVS, mount and helmet mouting plate) about two years ago. Then things got tight and I had to sell it to get some cash. Well I put an ad out on the forum and Brian McIlmoyle ended up buying it. Well time went by and I got a better paying job and figured it was time to get back into collecting/skirmishing and figured I'd start my kit off by getting the helmet out of the way and what better to make it look cool than to put a PVS 14 on it. So I put a want ad out there on the boards, figuring I was just going to end up buying from Hong Kong once again and pay over $300 for the whole thing. Then Goblin replied saying he could sell me the whole set up for $50 bucks! So I jumped on it and picked up a sweet looking prop for a total of $65 bucks ($15 for shipping). Anyways, the real twist to the whole thing was that the PVS 14 I got, was the very same one I sold to Brian for $200 bucks two years ago. Brian ended up selling it to Goblin and after 2 years, it finally made it back to my hands for $65 bucks. The only places I know of that might have the components you're looking for are Redwolf, WGC and War4 Actually I just checked, Den Trinity is selling both the PVS 14 and a dummy Aimpoint scope for $170 U.S. http://www.dentrinityshop.com/den_se...ot&pg=3&rpp=10 As for the mount, I think Redwolf has one but I'm not 100% sure yet. |

Yeah I was looking mostly for something that was more along the lines of a police theme instead of a military one. The headset only cost me about $200bucks. I liked the look and function of other tactical headsets, but the ones I was interested would have run me up another $200 to $400 bucks and I didn't have that kind of scratch on me. Anyways, here's to hoping I made a worthwhile investment 8-) |

Hey man the Ops-Core Xharness is really good! It is super comfortable and retains a heck of alot better than the issued one. Do you have the replica PVS helmet mount? I mean the one made by the same company and also sold on DENtrinity? I bought one from them and it only fits over my left eye instead of my right...

Have you tried turning the knob on the front of it?
The PVS is secured to the mount by a swing arm and you just tighten the knob once you have the monacle where you want it. So if that's the problem, then here's the solution I hope it's what you were looking for. Quote:
