Optics protector on G36

I have a stock G36, with the default handle and optics. I was wondering if it's necessary to put like a plexyglass protector infront of the optics like you would on a P90 RDS or on a large scope? The front of the optics is small and it seems unlikely to be a problem, what do other G36 users say? And if yes, how did you go about mounting it?

naw. The only time you really need a lense protector is with something like an Eotech Holosight. A scope or RDS lense can take quite the beating by airsoft BBs. Especially with the G26 optics, they are so small, chances of them getting hit is very low.

I've taken my 430fps M24 point blank to several different optics and every time the BB turns to dust and not a scratch is left on the lens. I've done this to aimpoint replicas, civilian model RDS' from sporting goods stores, and Bushnell scopes.

First game I got my holosight I used it without a lens protector and it took several shots straight on from upgraded guns at 20-30 feet, not a scratch on it either but I'm still making a lens protector for it.
