Getting started with Molle
As the title says im just getting my molle set up and i was wondering where you guys went to find most of your stuff. I looked at all the retailers in the above tool bar and didnt really see much that i liked.
Are there any restrictions on items because a buddy had 2 vest siezed by the US when they were in shipping from Hong Kong (the $30 CIRUS vest off ebay). I cant really see a problem with pouches but i just wanted to cover my ass before i spend a dime. Thanks Jeremy

Jeremy
You should try and keep your money in Canada There are plenty of retailers in Canada that can offer you every kind of price range and style your looking for. Quite a few are members of this board which is even better. On that note though, if you do feel like spending your money in another country, there should be no problems at all with bringing pouches and vests into Canada. They shouldn't be siezed at all.

Best bet if you dont want to start big is buy just a simple plate carrier or
an LBE harness. I would suggest www.1337tactical.com for that or check his ebay store. A Good starter ciras will set you back $200-300 but it will come with the pouches. So all you would need to get after that for warm days is just the plate harness or LBE, and then move the pouches over. Here is his site www.1337tactical.com Here is his Ebay Store. Well screw this post 1337tactical is down.. Damn they had good prices too. Nvm its up .. Im just tired and cant type!

One Shot Tactical baby.... T.A.G. ROCKS!
Top notch high speed gear. And one word of advice. Stay away from pouches that use MALICE clips. They are plastic and can get brittle in the cold or after a few temperature changes. I have had shit come off when smacking into things on approach. The TAG and Paraclete snap-less integrated attachment system is the shit. Weave it through, tuck it in, forget about it EVER coming off. And no snaps to rust or rattle.

They seized vests? Are you planning to challenge that?

there is no challenge, the US customs service seized the vests under the direction of homeland security when the vests landed in DHL's north american hub in Ohio. it's a huge story that I am not really wanting to get into again, I have been trying to get our vests for over a month and they just were sent back to china. I am just hoping I can not only get my cash back but get my wife's name (used her ebay account....opps) removed off the terrorist watch list the homeland security letter stated she was being put on.
Dammit now I am just mad again fucking DHL if you really want the complete story I posted this all on the www.jocairsoft.com/forums it is titled "why I hate americans" (i can't post the exact link as I can't access joc from work)

no it's all because some people are so fucking stupid................DHL, US Customs, Homeland Security and the JK Internation (seller)
Mainly because all of these idoits state the easiest solution is to provide proof of my US citizenship as the will ship to an out of country citizen, but I can't because I AM CANADIAN, it's like aurgueing true math with a child DHL canada can't help because they are managed seperately from DHL us US Customs because dude opens a box that isn't even destined for his country but thinks it's his responsibility Homeland Security because they obviously can't tell a replica CIRAS from a real plate carrier and they don't like my solution to prove it isn't bullet proof JK International because this ass hat says it isn't his problem after he has sent the item even though he lied on his auction and said this package would be shipped via express post (it would have never landed in the us and by passed all of this) JEREMY SORRY FOR JACKING YOUR THREAD BUDDY

i got a sweet home made vest for $50 and its made of the same matereals and with an industrial stitching machine. Things built like a rock, its a nock off ot a marine vest.
Whats a good way to tell the different groups of molle appart. ie. when i was looking around on farmboys site i ended up with a shopping cart full of tiems that didnt all match in colore. some were "ranger green" and others were OD, its ok if the colores are different from green to brown but i dont want a bunch of different shade pouches in the end.

My OD webbing has a bunch of different shades of OD, and it all looks the same from a distance. Heck, even close up the different shades and colourations don't look that bad at all. I can actually see it working better that way as camo than 100% exact shade on each item. Some pouches will stand out a bit more while others might fade away into the background more. Reduces the larger dark single colour silhouette.

true, thats the idea im going for with a tan vest and OD pouches. Anything to break up the shape.
Can you stack pouches or ley them almost like shingles. ie to got more on the front. I dont have any side loops so everything is in infront or on my back.

One thing to consider with that setup is shifting to where the weight is. Too much on front, it'll move more to the front. If the pouches you buy have PALS webbing (pretty much what MOLLE is, MOLLE is the system, PALS is the attachment points, aka. all the horizontal pieces of 1" webbing) on both sides of the pouches, you can build on top of each other, if not............. nope.
BTW, I've found black zip ties to be much more entertaining and flexible (usewise) than MALICE clips or the attachment means MOLLE pouches provide. Meaning, with using zipties, I can angle my pouches for better access to the contents, where going with MALICE or MOLLE, you are pretty much stuck dealing with the vertical plane. |

ah, i see what you mean. i might jsut have to angle some parts but i should be ok....im really gangly! hell i can grab a shotgun off my back and pull it strait up out of the loops.
