Airsoft vehicles

Some of us have been to air shows or other public events and the Canadian Forces have been showing off their equipment. I fell in love with the LAV-III, and am curious about the use of vehicles in airsoft. I know i may never get to ride in a LAV, but some extensive use of vehicles are known to be around, like here, and here in Manitoba i know there have been some vehicles to show up in larger games.

So are there any general rules everyone has agreed to regarding their use? or do they go in a case -by- case basis like OP:KS2? Things like maximum speed, occupation limits?

But mainly, construction. Are there limits on weaponry? Size? Are they just modified civilian vehicles, or decommissioned military vehicles? If civilian, do they have to be registered, or carried place to place on a trailer?

Any information would be nice, just to create a base set of "guidelines" for some of us with the armor bug and may be able to make the next season a little more interesting...

well some vehicles (the J.S.O.C. M75 APC for example) are too dangerous to move on the field and so are used as spawn points or bunkers. we use keystone 2 rules for vehicle use (disabling, repairing, speed, weapons).
J.S.O.C. has an iltis, 2 deuces, CUCV, M75 APC, almost bought a decommisioned leopard before they got recalled, and ive been informed we're getting an M1045 for a summer project.
you CAN convert a civilian vehicle, all J.S.O.C. vehicles are ex-military, theres no size limit to your vehicle, but if its deemed to dangerous to be used on the field it will be used as a spawn point or bunker. its always a good idea to register your vehicle, the iltis and CUCV are usually driven to games, the M75 will be carried due to fuel economy.
weapons are made to be as realistic as possible and are viewed case by case, nothing overboard obviously.

bahahaha vehicles are cool, but a little bit dangerous. Think about all the paperwork involved. Sure, you may** be able to pull that off in bulgaria, or some european equivalent, but here? Don't think so.

One of the guys I play with has an Iltis which is registered for the road and strictly for the "cool" factor, so it doesn't see real action.

With that said, we also have a Chevy Blazer that is, shall we say, "modified".
It got the back cut off so more people can jump in and out more comfortably, massive I-beam bumper, and painted a nice OD.

As far as rules, it usually operates in is limited to the open fields around the bush of our AO, however we do have a "road" that it will go along through the bush.

Common sense is the main rule regarding it.( no hiding in long grass where it may be comming)

also the muffler fell off awhile ago, so you really can't help hearing it coming towards you(that and the loudspeaker system)

As far as "killing" it, we have an AT-1 that runs off compressed air and fires dollar store foam rockets( or anything else you care to stick into it). Usually there are enough people around to see if it gets hit or not. Generally the blazer is considered immune to gunfire with the exception of if there are 2 or more players and the blazer is not escorted. In this case it would also be "captured." This keeps the driver from merely roaring up and down the path with no escort team and giggling to themselves.

and paperwork, well, we play on a private field that also is where it is stored. So unitll we look into taking it to some of the "larger" games, its not really an issue.

I have to admit tho, its intimidating to see "something" full of people with guns, roaring over the crest of a hill, blaring "ride of the Valkyries", with the driver yelling obscenities over the loudspeaker.

Well, I chatted to some people that work at Autopac, and as for transporting vehicles, they can either be safetied, then modified (but not to heavily), or be towed behind as an inoperable vehicle, or hauled on a trailer.

If anyone has any pics of airsoft vehicles, that would really add to this thread. I know I'd like to see the J.S.O.C. motorpool that was mentioned earlier.
