??mp5 SD aftermarket barrel???
SO lets say i am to buy an MP5 SD version.. 5 or 6 it doesn't matter..
and considering the barrel's on either version (SD or A series) are reasonably short, i would like to install a tight-bore barrel that would fit the full length of the gun underneath the SD silencer and not protrude beyond that? i have tried my damndest to find any info at all on the net and have turned up w/ next to nothing for info on lengths and manufacturers that produce them.. or is there a swap you can do w/ an m4 barrel or somthing along those lines? i've considered other options... as in other guns but the MP5 SD is for me.. i must have and it must perform! im sure alot of you will understand So i turn to you. thanks for the input! |

I recently installed a new (ok, was the stock barrel from my CA M24 sniper rifle...........515mm) inner barrel into my MP5-SD. You can't get a standard lenght barrel to fit it, but you can order one longer than 330mm and have it cut/machined down to 330mm. Careful use of a hacksaw will do just fine, then ream and clear the end of any burrs etc. When I did mine, I used a hacksaw blade (no handle) while the barrel was held in my bench vise, then used an X-Acto knife to clear the inside burrs, then my Swiss Army Knife's reamer blade to finish the inside crown off. Outside, I used a file with the barrel set in a drill to act as a lathe.
330mm is 100mm longer than stock, comes to about 5mm or so shorter than the end of the supressor end of the SD, so it fits perfectly inside it. And, just for info, adding that extra length of barrel gave me an extra 20fps over the stock 229mm barrel I had previously. So your using a tightbore with an extra 100mm length might add a total of 25-35fps increase on whatever you are getting now with the shorter stock barrel. Just info in case you already have a high powered upgraded gun, so you can decide to adjust/downgrade other parts to keep it under 400fps limits, if your area has them. |

Trust me, you will have to hack it down. Unless there is a 334mm barrel, then it'll JUST come to the inside edge of the supressor.
