m-14 suggested upgrades?

I have looked around the forms and have found some ideas fo upgrades on my TM M-14, but what i'm looking for is a 2 part question.

1)What upgrade parts work well together?(do certain parts by different companies not work well together?)

2) in regards to the fire selector wear, I plan on only using semi and I have been told that as long as I mostly use semi I shouldn't run in to problems with the selector peice. Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

In the end I would like to have a reliable rifle that shoots 400fps, yet retain the accuracy that I so love. I would also want no or little increase in sound if at all possable. Any links I might have missed would be helpful. Constructive posts appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Blair

I've virtually replaced all my internals with Guarder products and it works great. If you do replace your cylinder head with a Guader, I find that the rubber pad that absorbs some of the energy from the piston can move. Mine twisted so the air hole was blocked and my M14 wouldn't fire anymore, worst of all this happened to me on the field. Anyway after a bit of tweaking, I took that rubber pad off completely the gun is a bit louder now but it's very consistent. If you keep the stock cylinder head you won't have to worry about this issue.

As for the fire selector thing, it's suppose to be due to the tension of the spring, not whether you fire on full auto a lot. I've been mainly firing semi and after two field games my M14 lost its ability to fire semi.

Upgrading the M14 will make it louder, there's not much you can do about that but it won't be as loud as say a gun ver 2 or 3 mechbox firing at 400 fps. My M14 is much quieter than my G36C and that gun is only firing around 370.

My M14 is currently firing at 405-410 fps. It is the most smooth running and quietest AEG I've fired to date. If you're going to upgrade your M14, you won't have to worry about excessive noise. The entire system is really efficient.

I've changed the connectors to Deans and I'm using a mid-sized 9.6V 2000mah NiMH battery. All the internals are stock except for the spring. I'll be gaming with this rifle soon to see how long the internals will last.
