Outer Barrel Destroying my Metal Slide + Loading Nozzle Assembly!
I have a Creation Metal Slide + Outer Barrel for my Tokyo Marui Hi-Capa 4.3.
However just this weekend, I bought a Guarder Stainless Outer Barrel. So I swaped out the creation outer barrel. I fitted the stainless outer barrel in to my creation metal slide and it seems like the slide gets stuck with the barrel. The Outer Barrel doesnt seem to fit properly sometimes. Outer Barrel. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...0/DSC00475.jpg Here are the damanges that the Outer Barrel caused on the metal slide... http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...0/DSC00477.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...0/DSC00476.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...0/DSC00471.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...0/DSC00472.jpg You can see where the outer barrel has cutted/rashed up the inside of the metal slide. Do I have to file down the stainless outer barrel to make it fit in the metal slide? Will the barrel ruin my metal slide's functionality? All positive and useful input is greatly appreciated! Thanks in Advance! |

oh man! sorry to hear that! I hate guarder parts; They're 70% lemons.

well look for some of those contact points and then just sand them down or file i think you would get more control with sandpaper though

Don't touch the barrel. Just lightly work in those contact points on the inside of the slide with a file/dremel/sandpaper/etc.. Don't over-do it or the barrel is going to wobble.
This is normal when mixing metal parts from different brands. |

For some reason I can't seem to view your pics (very slow load), but I'm guessing that you're noticing some damage to the chamber cover opening area. I know of two other Hicapas with this issue and have noted that my own hicapa is getting worse around there (3 total now)
Strange thing is that my own hicapa is still shooting the plastic barrel. Instead of the slide being damaged, the plastic barrel is losing the fight. I'm not sure what is to blame as I am shooting a PGC Kimber slide. I have a feeling that slide manufacturers may have missed some important features in the TM slide design. I'm taking a closer look, but haven't found any differences yet. In the meantime, I have found it helped to bevel the top front and rear edges of the chamber cover (pics to follow) to reduce binding when the slide returns to battery.

However, the barrel does not wobble much. I swaped back the barrel to the creation one and it seems to be a better fit. Where as the guarder part seems very rough on the gun... One thing that I noticed with the Guarder Outer Barrel is that they have completely changed the design on how the hop-up + innerbarrel fits into the outer barrel. Sometimes the whole outerbarrel can slide right off... Where as the outer barrel from creation follows the Exact Toyko Marui Design. I will post pictures after lunch. |

Left : Guarder Right: Creation. You can see how they changed the design of the fitting. I think thats the problem. I think I just wasted 40$... |

I don't remember the details offhand, but when I picked up a Guarder stainless steel chamber for my 1911 (WA), I remember there was some note about how I might have to trim the inside of the slide around the ejection port (opposite end of where you're having trouble from what I gathered from the pics -- but different guns so maybe the HiCapa one has trouble at the rear).
I didn't have to trim mine but I'm still using the stock (ABS) slide since I cant find a metal counterpart/suitable alternative for my gun.

I don't wanna sand down the metal slide because if I do it wrong I don't wanna damage my metal slide... I don't have enough money to get another slide!
I think I should have got the NINE BALL Stainless Outer Barrel. Guarder sucks! |

i know how you feel, but if you want to have that full metal 4.3 look your gona have to sand it. The inside of my metal slide is practicaly silver because i sanded it in so many places to make my outer barrel fit properly for my 5.1 |

Should I just go buy a NINE BALL Stainless Outer Barrel instead? |

thats why you should sand it slowly and check it each time you sand a bit, it might be alot of work but worth in the end
IF YOU REALLLLLLLLYYYY want to not sand your slide at all then i duno about the nineball i think most outer barrels require some sort of sanding somewhere |

There is what appears to be a manufacturing or design error with the Hicapa barrels from Guarder, or at least their compatibility with metal slides, but tsuru's comment about having this issue with a plastic barrel + metal slide makes it sound like there is a finer problem to look at. We found the Guarder hicapa outer barrels are really not compatible with PGC metal slides, and I guess we can add Creation to that list: without some kind of modification or more information, I would not recommend them except for show. Their metal outer barrels for all other guns we've tried (226, Glock 17/19/26) work just fine (although when you mix and match aftermarket parts, you can never guarantee they'll work perfectly without a little elbow grease). |
