DTP AK-47 reciever - where do I grind to get it to fit?

I picked up a DTP reciever because it was so cheap but the mechbox doesnt fit in it. When inserted as far as it can go without getting out a hammer its still riding about 1.5mm too high in the back so the selector switch and motor aernt where their supposed to be. I'm trying to dremel it out, I knew it wouldnt fit perfectly, but the thing is I have absolutly no idea where its hung up so every time I dremel a surface down it has zero effect.

I took a caliper and started to measure thicknesses and widths and compare it to my TM plastic reciever and they are all within 0.01mm of each other (after I ground down all the parts there where thicker on the DTP one) so I have no idea whats causing it.

i never had to dremel anything installing my DTP...just took some wiggling and patience.

Me either, I didn't even have to do that much coercing.. it just dropped into place.

Thats kind of strange that you're having trouble.

try removing the motor assembly, and then fit the mechbox without any of the wires getting in the way, that should tell you if it's a "mechbox" issue or a wire fitment issue.

What gun are you fitting it to, Karl? Usually with TMs the DTP is a drop in replacement.

It is a TM AK-47 I'm trying to fit it on, when I first tried it was about 2mm high when it was as far in as it went and filing down the rail things a bit you see in the first pic managed to drop it about 0.5mm but I kept at it and it didnt drop anymore. I havnt actually tried removing the motor housing but I wiggle all the wires and none of them are pinched anywhere, they all move freely.

Just my luck that I get a flakey reciever...

*Update*
The circle bit (damn I hate not knowing the technical terms...) just to the rear of the cylinder in this pic, the gouge on the inside of the reciever it moves in was far too small and so that one bit held up the entire mechbox. I have it partially reassembled now and it fires on semi and auto with no misfeeds so I'm guessing everything is lined up properly. The selector arm thing kept falling off so I finally said "screw it, test fit without it on!" and then it worked and I realized that was the problem. Going to put the rest of the top reciever on and the stock and call her done (as done as it can be until I get the wood kit). Thanks for the help.

Back to carving interesting shapes out of pink foam...I love my university program :-D
