Why won't my hop-up work?
I purchased an AIM m4, which is basically a copy in and out of a TM M4, just not metal.. therefor cheaper. Same mechbox, motor, gears, setup, hop-up adjustable, etc.
Well, i got it and it works great is acurate, shoots faster than you can imagine.. about 1k BBs a minuete.. All great until i started adjusting hop-up.. Why won't it hop-up? The manual says that it should go well into the air on the highest setting, but it flys forward and drops fast on the highest setting... Any suggestions on how to fix the hop-up? Or how to determine what's wrong? Thanks a bunch =D :hammer: |

Tokyo Marui's are not metal either BTW. Maybe the hop-up bucking is missing? That would certainly cause that problem.
I bet your next question will be what is a hop-up bucking ... ?

That can happen if you have your hop up turned too high.
But yeah... wow... 1k BBs a minute? that's really fast. That's like almost 17 BBs in a second. You could empty a 68 round in 4 seconds! That's even faster than Tokyo Marui! |

Well I know what a hop-up bucking is. I've had that problem with my DEagle's hopup...
Anyways, BB's have nothing to do with it lol.. But anyways i'll check it out inside and see if it's even there. |

I just went and looked at it.. The bucking is moving up and down but the BB's still don't go up up.. some speed is taken and it drops slower than normal setting.
Maybe it's jammed or something's blocking the bucking from going any lower on the BB? |

Maybe you figured out why TM is more expensive... and everyone uses them.
*ahem* (they work).

A microsoft conspiracy? Wth? It's a copy of a Marui. I went with the cheaper option.. so? It was only 140 compared to 300 for a TM m4 and pretty much the same.
www.google.com Look it up. |

Now you learned something important; you got what you paid for. Half the price, 1/4 the quality.
The next step will be to waste probably a good $100 figuring out what is wrong, and the rest of the cash difference in painkillers. |

Nah. I'm not stressing over it. I'm not a proffessional airsofter or whatever. I don't enter matches or anything cool like that.
Either way, it works, it's fast, it hurts, it's good.. As for the hop-up, screw it. It really doesn't matter. I'll just adjust my sights to even out with the drop.. Thanks for the help everyone. But, one more question off topic.. Upgrading a spring gun.. do you only need a new spring to make it shoot faster and more acurate? |
