Tanaka M700 TLR (wood)

Hey,

I am looking into getting a sniper rifle. I have wanted one since the time I first got into airsoft (over 8 years ago), but have been discouraged with the high cost/low quality/low reliability of the old springers (APSs etc.)...In the last few years( I havent played much outside of my close friends) it appears
a revolution has happened in the the tech that goes into an airsoft bolt action rifle. So I think it's time to take the plunge :-D I was thinking about getting the VSR-10 wood but it looks like crap and the fact that its a spring gun isnt that appealing because the bolt becomes stiffer as you upgrade. On the other hand the wood M700 TLR is what I really want...it looks great (from the pictures) and the real steel has always appealed to me. I have heard that the M700 composite has a tightbore 6.05 but what I have read says that the TLR suffers from inaccuracy due to its non tight bore.

After an exhaustive search I haven't found any other reviews and, as this review is the only one, I can't cross check with another. I'm asking any M700 enthusiasts out there for help.

Ill simplify the questions that I would like answered:

Have you held and/or shot the Tanaka M700 TLR?
What were your impressions?

Does the TLR have a tightbore barrel?
If not, is the stock Tanaka M700 composite barrel interchageable?

Are there multiple versions of the TLR? Of all the M700s for that matter?

The Capt.

P.S. sorry for the long winded post...

Other options

Seeing as noone has replied and I havent been able to get an alright price for the LTR (and am still unsure about the availability) a thought occured to me. Does anyone know if the VSR-10 pro sniper reciever and barrel are fairly close to the real steel M700 in size? I can pickup a slightly used walnut stock for around $40 or a synthetic for around $100 USD. If it wouldnt be that hard to fit it I would be golden. Any ideas?

The Capt.

Head over to Airsoft Retreat's Snipers Perch. I know a guy there has installed a real steel stock on his VSR. I think he even has step-by-step instructions.

EDIT: Here's the link to the guide http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums...p?topic=2593.0

all tanaka 700 series works on the same platform so yes the barrels are interchangeable.

Thanks Ghillie, just what I was looking for. And thanks for the info on the interchangeability of the barrels, SEALs. Now for some hard decisions :P
