Battery Charge Question

Hey, just got my first AEG (Marui G36C)...it came with a G & P 8.4 V Ni-cd 600mAh battery. It also came with a generic wall charger (nothing fancy)...There's this switch where you can select either standard or fast charge and one where you set the DC output. What I'm wondering is, what voltage I'm supposed to set the output at, since it goes from 4.8V to 9.6V (it was set at 6V when I got it from the shop). It doesn't say the output amperage at all, it just says AC Input 110-120V, 7 Watts, Standard Charge 10-12 hrs, Fast Charge 3-4 hrs. Am I supposed to be charging at 8.4 V, or am I supposed to leave it at 6V? Again, the thing doesn't give an output in amps, and I've tried searching for this topic already in the FAQ, just don't wanna fry my battery the first time around.

Get a voltmeter/multimeter and test the charger's amperage. If the charger is crap, buy a better charger.

you have an 8.4 v battery. to charge it at 6v, will "cap" the battery at six volts. you CAN put it up to 9.6v, you battery will only take as much voltage as its is designed too so you cant "over volt" it. but im not sure how egsactly yours works, but the you want set the charger at the seeting 1 before the 9.6v setting.

how many mah does it list? if it says 300 mah an hour, it would take two hours to charge in theory.

im sure it says this in the battery faq, but ALWAYS dicharge your battery completley before recharging. this doesnt mean fire your gun till it doesnt fire anymore cuz that will only drop the battery charge below the what is required to run the gun. so you can do that but you could still have 4.8v left. so BUY a discharger.

the best method is to build a base charge on slow for 5-10 minutes, then fast charge. i could be wrong, but from my research, fast charging is better for the battery and so far nobody has formally debunked that. you CAN overcharge a battery, so if it says 10-12hrs dont leave it for 16, a wall charger doesnt have a shutoff so youll fry your battery overtime (or the first time you leave it on there for 20+ hrs)

a piece of advice, buy a tlp (see 007 in the canadian retailer drop down menu) battery charger, it has an automated discharge and recharge feature, and an automatic shut off so you dont overcharge the battery.
