UTG AK47 Honest Detailed review (from the "No thanks but interesting" department)

This makes it appear that the UTG's are improving a bit. I looked up reviews on it 'cause I saw this gun at 2 for 200$ on airsoftatlanta.com. Airsoft Atlanta's review (which got posted on Arnies) made my sphincter feel all smokey but I actually enjoyed this one...

No sale, but an interesting and extremely detailed review from someone that seemed to know what they were talking about. Seems like making it usable requires elbow grease, actual grease, and know how.

Didn't BC Airsoft supply have some for about $250? Their site is having some renovations though...

They did, but they're all sold out now. Customs troubles is delaying their restocking.

For the adjusted Canadian prices that UTG's are going for, and the amount of work that needs to be done to them to bring them up to the same specs as a field worthy gun so far i'm not too impressed.
However I am impressed that other companies are starting to join into the market. UTG is learning from there mistakes and given enough time and resources i'm sure that in the next few years they may bring themselves up to be a new competitor in the market.

Corrosion on the metal parts out of the box!?! and split stocks... Gezz real quality there.

It's like saying this new car is really good cause it is cheap and looks just like the normal full cost one. But when you get it brand new from the factory, the dashboard has a big gap at the seam, the paint is coming off / missing is someareas and there is rust on the body. You also need to replace the electrical system for better performance in normal use and rebuild the engin because it is just 'servicable'.

And people wonder why TM's cost more...

Well you have to give it to them for trying. How long did it really take for TM to get it right? They've probably spent way more on R&D then any other company. That's probably why TM's usually cost more. These other companies are using their designs and saving a lot more time creating guns that actually work. Don't get me wrong, i wouldn't really skirmish with them in our outdoor field but any CQB field would be great. I own a UTG MP5 and i wasn't disappointed at all. I got what I paid for and a little bit more. I thought I would get a nice looking paper weight but instead I have a new CQB gun. There is some work involved but who cares... you get to feel a sense of accomplishment once you've tweaked it to a skirmish worthy gun.
