Spring Rifle Slam Firing Causes and Solutions
I would like to compile a list on spring rifle slam firing causes and solutions. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Most common:
Broken sear in trigger / Replace sear
Broken sear spring in trigger / Replace spring
Piston out of alignment or too dirty / Remove cylinder head. Take piston, spring guide and spring out. Clean, lube and reinstall.
Cylinder not centered and bolt pull loose / Check centering rings in receiver. They sit about an inch in on both ends of the receiver. If they have moved you can glue them back in place. If broken use UHMW tape or order new rings.
Spring guide stopper loose and slipping out into hollow area in trigger guard / Put plumbers putty, sticky foam or thick hardened glue into trigger guard hollow area where the bottom of the spring stopper sits to hold it up or replace with aftermarket trigger guard. [This is rare and may be due to specs being off]
