you guys have a slither stock right? if so that is the spring that keeps the little piece of plastic in place; the piece that holds the stock from sliding all the way off when you slide it out. i found a shop (takedown) manual for the mp5 somewhere on these forums, and it was shown in a little diagram; maybe there is a part number

I painted mine flourcent orange with some glow in the dark spray...! neat little trick to keep from losing it completely...For the V shaped one you should be able to make it using the same metal the battery holders use in flashlights or something like that...they're flexable and easy to shape

Buzzard pretty much has it. Don't just keep the stock from falling out, but also latches the stock in it's three positions. Not overly sure if it's important or not, but I made a point of not losing mine.

There really are only two pieces in there, on the right side anyways. The little black thing is the latch, the V shaped thing behind it is the spring.

Easiest would be to take a look at the manual you posted for orientation. See the way the metal peice's bevels are oriented in relation to the pins on the side? Also, notice that one side of the spring is longer than the other.Just place them together in the gun like that, and slide the cap on. Also pay attention to the sling loop, it only fits in there one way.
