Anyone know where to find one of these?
Hey,
I found a picture of a Barrett M82A-1 .50cal online somewhere, but I can't find one for sale for the life of me. Anyone know pricing on these, or where to get one? |

I think Tru had one for sale at one point, and Canadian Airsoft up in Grande Prairie could order them as well

You can custom order this through a retailer... this thing will cost you a few thousand dollars.

Kelowna Airsoft is a distrubitor of www.uncompany.com, you should be able to order one through them
I've seen two different M82A1's on UNCompany's webside. The difference between the two was, one had a PSG barrel already installed and was based off an M-733, so you could actually fire full-auto and semi. The other was just Semi. The one based off the M-733 was a couple grand on UNCompany's website last I checked. |

$2800 Canadian for the Smokeys 8mm version. Find someone to import it for you & I'll get one to your grubby little hands.

I believe rangers airsoft or roger at m1 has one for sale. I have seen it in their shop. Try www.M1airsoft.com or www.rangersairsoft.com and email them. They should be able to let you know if they still have it.

As cool as it would be to actually have the 8mm M82A1....$2800 is a LOT of money. I could build....like...a couple airsoft cruise missiles and a mobile launcher or something for $2800.

Actually Gandar, there is a restriction on the M82A1. Its a anti-vehicle weapon ONLY!. Or so says the Geneva convention. Least thats what I've been told by some people that were trained with it in the states. ((One was my cousin so I don't know why he'd lie about it to me.)
AND! 2.5km is ONLY what they'll tell us. I'd wager that the gun is good for nearly alteast another half to a full click more than that! They don't tell us all they're very limits. Problem would be the scope getting that much range, but hey, they got big mother ****ing scopes out there.... "I wonder if I strapped a hubble to the thing. . ." - my brother being a smart ass... |

Yeah, I don't know if anyone read the actual book before seeing the movie "Jarhead"((I actually got to see this movie still)) He starts talking about when they got a shipment of M82A1's in, but they didn't get any new scopes, just a bunch more of the ones they had on the M40's. So basically the instructor was explaining to them that they had 2000 yard range, but the scope was only good for 1600. And then some of the other soldiers start bitching that they want their extra 400 yards, "Because of how much this bitch weighs, we won't be able to run very far! With out ammo!"
I liked the book, that part and the part about the shitty gas masks they got, was the best in the whole book. You laugh your ass off so hard at these parts. but you know the best thing about stopping a tank dead with a .50 cal. The days it takes them to find all the shit that one bullet mussed up! Because I don't imagine the entry hole being very large and nor do I suspect there be a clear hole straight through it. So finding what stays and what don't, take some time. Where as a slug from an M1A1 tank, just leaves a crator you know its fudged and don't waste manpower on it.... |

.... They use .50 cal on peoples, it just can't be automatic fire, and there're a lot more .50 cal than just the Barret, in fact, Canada doesn't use the Barret to my knowledge, we use the McMillan .50 cal.
If you think that's actually what it says, I'd like you to show me, not that I'm saying you're a liar, just that I want to see proof before I believe you. |

Actually alot of my family on my dad side is in the states. I've two sorta close relatives in the American Army, one is an instructor at Top Gun Academy (flies a whicked F-16) and his brother is an instructor at the Sniper Academy ((I don't remember the name for this one? Anyone got that handy?)) Anyway, he was the one that was telling me that its against Geneva to use the Berret M82A1 because of the rounds destructive ability.
Now, I didn't really say that ALL .50 cal's were against Geneva, else those fun .50's mounted on Humvee's would be getting alot of people in some deep shit. And that itself blows away your "As long as its not automatic fire. And like I said thats just what I was told, I didn't see it written down on some UN written report. But, because it was my cousin and his creditials, I beleived him with out question. OH, and my referal to the .308 round wasn't trying to say because of the caliber, it was just the destructive power behind the round. Mind you, I guess the .50's would set a few holes in you too. |
