Starter gun.
I've been looking at differen't airsoft sites and all, and whenever it is i DO get a gun, i think i might get an ak-47 or something of the like.
I was just wondering what price would a decent ak go for?(in canadian $) |

You'll find the FAQs to be of substantial benefit. They can answer many questions, and give you enough in the way of base knowledge to avoid making any rash decisions.
As for the price of an AK, check the various Canadian Retailers situated at the top of the page. Most will have Marui AK-47s somewhere in the range of $500. Remember to add in the cost of battery, charger, any extra mags you might desire, and of course the various gear you'll find to be useful. But really, reading FAQs will save you emotional damage from people yelling obsenities at you. |

Brand new, $470 + Shipping, so about $500 NEW.
Used, it all depends what the seller prices it at, condition, upgrades, ect. Quote:

It is a good idea to plan for many things at once. Not only will you get an AK, but you will need a battery, a charger for your battery, extra mag(s), bb's, a gun case perhaps, tac vest of some sort, eye protection, etc., etc., etc. I would plan to spend $1000 or so if you want to get everything you need to play at the level we're used to. This may sound like alot, but really is all necessary if you want to be able to hold your own as well as be safe both on and off the field (hence the gun case idea). I've spent enough to buy a new car and still have no immediate plans to stop. That's just the way it goes when "the bug bites".

You know, it really isn't that bad. it's the inital cost of gun and gear that hurts, but after that it's the cheapest hobby you can have. Many of the guys I play with played serious paintball and would easily drop $300+ in 1 day of play on paint. And that's on top of the $2000 gun and all the gear to go with it. You can play airsoft on less than $10 in ammo in 1 day and usually a small field fee. What other action game let's you do that? Once your past the inital start-up cost, it is effectively the best entertainment going. I would suggest you check out a local game just as a spectator and see if it's for you. Then decide all the particulars of what you want later.
And btw, we're not all jerks!!! |

Stick to a recognized brand and try the gun before you buy it. But I wouldn't hold out too much hope to find a cheap, quality used AEG. Used prices are sometimes very close to new prices, but you may get a deal on mags or something. I personally like buying new to avoid buying a misused or "amateur-modified" gun, even though i could repair it myself if needed. As you're new and likely inexperienced in gun repair, I would avoid those issues if I were you. To buy new or used from this site and most Canadian retailers, you need to be 18. So wait a bit, do some checking around, save up some cash and when your 18, go for it!!
