Best boots for running in rocky terrain?
The field I play on is basically centered on a rocky valley with a small stream in the middle, and I'm a fairly fast-moving player. The downside is that running down rocky and slippery slopes is wrecking havoc on my ankles-even with a fairly aggressive brace and a fairly high-quality set of hiking boots, I've yet to make it through a game without rolling my ankle at least a little bit, and I just know that if I keep it up it's going to lead to a much more serious injury unless I get better footwear.
Any recommendations for a good boot? Lighter is better, but the top priorities are ankle support and traction, in that order. |

I love my Oakley SI. Lightweight, comfy and tough. I’ve used them on nearly every type of terrain. The tread are aggressive, like a serrated knife.

I have tried the AKU Pilgrims on, and they are a good choice (built like a backpacking boot). However, would not recommend any style of desert boot, with a flexible canvas upper for your application.

I’ve been wearing Keen Oregon PCT’s for 5 years and they’re still in mint condition. Although they’re not available I think they have a new line that looks really nice

FWIT,
The Canadian Special Operations Regiment and the Special Air Service both issue the AKU Pilgrim boots. Needless to say, they have the credentials. |

+1 for the Saloman Quest 4D's. Great sole support for stepping over jagged rocks. I did a 4 day section of the Appalachian Trail through New Hampshire last year, boots performed very well.

Best boots for running in rocky terrain
I use the Blackhawk Desert Ops boot. Not only one of the most comfortable boots Ive worn, probably the most comfortable footwear Ive worn. Ive had them for several years. Ive worn them to games, wore them at BATC this past weekend, and worn them camping/hiking a dozen times.
Id highly recommend them. |
